Laying down new grass seed-how long until full growth
Our yard is world war 3 after pool installation. We need to install brand new grass by seed. How long will it take to grow a fair amount of grass? New sprinkler system is getting installed too

No long. The important thing is to water it. If you skip a day and dry up, it's funky. Just keep watering. Morning is best. Afternoon too only if its warmer an not to close to sundown.

We went from dirt to full lawn in about 4-6 weeks. You should start to see sprouts in about 10 days to 2 weeks.

ITA. Two other points:
Seed at an angle if you can, instead of just sprinkling seed on top of the soil. DH tosses the seed at about 45 degree angle and tries to really throw it 'into' the soil. I think this helped.
Also, stay off it as much as you can. Our dog tore up just one section and we can still see the damage two years later.

One last tip, freeze the seed before you put it down. We bought our house new, and when the landscaper put the lawn in, we were surprised at how fast it grew in. He said he freezes the seed before. Then when it thaws out, it "thinks" it has gone from winter to spring and really grows fast. Not sure if there's any truth to this, but we had sprouts in a matter of days, and full grass before we knew it!
