How far along were you when you told your DC you were expecting?

Re: Moms not having their first...
DS is small but we were still worried he would say something (he overheard parents talking at daycare and told us a classmate was going to be a big sister before it was announced ) so not until 10 weeks when we told family! He DID blab to everyone, even though he was only 2 lol

Moms not having their first...
I keep reading that you should wait until you're several months pregnant. I just know my family and even his daycare teachers are going to be like "Ohhhh ***, are you excited to be a big brother?!?!"
Not sure he'll understand quite what that means but yeah.

Re: Moms not having their first...
We brought them to the 8 week sono and that is when we told them. We were having a family party the next day, so I gave my DS the sono to bring to the grandmas to show them. They asked, "What's this?" He said, "It's the baby in my mommy's belly!"

Re: Moms not having their first...
With #2 my DS was only 18 months when DD was born, we did talk about it right away, but he didnt get it till i was pretty big lol. Now with #3, im starting to show even though im only 7 weeks, but a mom had asked me in front of my kids (4 and 2), so I ended up having to tell them a lotearlier than expected. They are soo excited, and keep fighting over who will sit next to the baby in the car

Re: Moms not having their first...
SS is 16 and DD is 6. We told them on thanksgiving at about 8 weeks. I wanted to wait until christmas but my family was starting to get suspicious and I had a bump and quit smoking.

Re: Moms not having their first...
I told DD, who was 23 months at the time, the morning after I took the test.
She told my MIL "baby in mommy's belly" the next time she saw her Thankfully I had an excuse and MIL believed it.
We didn't bring up baby again with DD until we were ready to announce..

Re: Moms not having their first...
Right away both times.
When I was pregnant with my 2nd DD1 was too young to "get it" (She was only a year old).
This time DD2 is too young to get it, but DD1 is SUPER excited and has named the baby "Baby Scully" and insists it's a girl.

We told DS (also 3.5) at around 18 weeks. I thought he didn't get it but then earlier this week (i'm 20 weeks) he touched my tummy and asked "Mama, is your baby growing?" I was shocked. He is very aware of things even if he doesn't always let on that he is.

Re: Moms not having their first...
We just told my DD (who will be 3 yr. in May) after the 20 week anatomy scan. We wanted to wait until we were sure everything was ok with the pregnancy and we want to be able to tell her that she was getting a little brother or sister. I felt like it would make it more real for her. We also wanted to lessen the amount of time she had to wait for the baby to come. We still have the 2nd half of the pregnancy to prepare her. Her reaction to the news was kind of a let down--- she said "oh, ok" then started talking about something else.......

Re: Moms not having their first...
DS is coming with us to our 8 week sono and then hopefully that will help him to understand. We plan to tell our parents after that dr visit and the rest of our family and friends at week 12 - hopefully he won't share the secret

Re: Moms not having their first...
My DD (who was almost 4 at the time) knew I was pregnant from the get go. Because I am a SAHM I had to take her with me to every appt. (and I had a lot early on) so it just made sense to tell her her from the start.
For us, it was a good decision. I think including her in the pregnancy all along with regards to dr appts, getting the nursery ready, shopping, etc. really helped to excite her about the baby and prepare her for his arrival as well. I was glad she knew from the get go.

Moms not having their first...
We told DS the day after we got our bfp. He was sound asleep at the time the test gave us the news but we did snap a pic of him sleeping to capture the moment. I guess it doesn't matter bc he was only 18 months old and has no clue what's really going on lol.

Moms not having their first...
I told them around 8 weeks. I was feeling very sick since early on, and my oldest daughter was getting very worried (she's 7). We told them all- 7,6 and 3 (5&2 at the time) and they actually kept it a secret until we were ready to tell family!

We told the kids right away (ages 5 and 2) but didn't expect the youngest to get it. When I had a sizable bump, we started prepping him for baby.

Re: Moms not having their first...
My son is a little over 2 now... I started to tell him early. I figured the more he heard it the better. I don't think the completely understands the world as he knows it will change. But he gets he's going to be a big brother.
