Eating habits...

Im trying to be good with what I eat and tend to be good with breakfast and lunch but struggle with dinner because I work late and am always on the go. How is everyone doing with their eating habits? I've been feeling guilty the last couple of days like I'm bing bad :( its not like fast food everyday but it's some form of eating out as its convenient with my schedule.

Maybe I'll try to make some meals this weekend so I can just grab and go.

Re: Eating habits...

I was a super strict calorie counter before...

And have obviously stopped doing that.

I let myself eat whatever and although I joke about eating pizza constantly -- this isn't actually the reality.

I do eat a lot more often but I do try to make them healthier choices as often as possible. Still eat tons of fruit, will make salads, oatmeal, tons of water, etc.

My true biggest vices are cereal. I want it constantly and have it a few times a day Chat Icon

I'm at 25 lbs at 24 weeks but ... whatever. It's gone on slow and steadily. Is what it is. I have faith I'll be able to get it off.

Figure I otherwise adopted my eating habits as a lifestyle change and not a diet and I do good with it -- so I don't allow myself to indulge in things very often when I'm not pregnant -- so now's kind of my chance to do so (within reason.)

Eating habits...

I'm eating a lot more fruit than I had been before I was PG however I'm also eating fast food (Subway, pizza, McDonald's, Wendy's), a lot of pasta, carbs, etc because these heavier things are the only things that sit in me long enough to make the feelings of nausea go away and make me feel more comfortable throughout the day. Plus I have an issue where nothing is appealing to me beverage-wise and as with my last pregnancy the only thing that seems to go down OK is Coke. I still try to limit it to no more than 1 per day however I'm also not drinking much else at this point at all. No bueno.

Even right now at 8:52 a.m. I'm waiting for lunch... I had a big breakfast, I am NOT hungry in the slightest - in fact I just had a snack (my breakfast was at like 5:55 a.m.) but I don't feel well and a significant meal seems to be the only thing that makes it go away.

I tell myself I will try to be better once the nausea period passes. Luckily I've not gained a lb (I'm only 5w3d)

I'm the same way! I've always been a calorie counter and I've been pretty good with eating healthy for breakfast and lunch, but once I go home it's much harder! My husband loves to eat and always maintains the same weight and it's hard to not take on his eating habits.

The only thing that helps me is keeping lots of healthy snacks around - fruit, yogurt, almonds, granola bars. Also, I try to make our dinners healthier - grilled chicken, brown rice, whole wheat pasta etc.

Trust me, I don't stick to being healthy everyday, but having healthier options in the house definitely helps.

Re: Eating habits...

Honestly, I'm eating what I want and what I can. While I haven't had terrible MS I have had on and off queasiness ranging from mild to severe, and since about week 7 I have had SERIOUS food aversions, so I'm eating what is appealing. I try to eat a lot of fruits, and get some salad in there a fair amount. I eat a ton of sandwiches and/or bagels because carbs sit well with me. I do crave sweets so I have those quite a bit. Right now I can't stomach most meat so I'm a tad bit concerned, but ground turkey or extra lean ground beef in sauce has been okay therefore I have been trying to get creative with meat sauce!

Some days I have a bagel for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch, and pasta for dinner. Do what works!

Re: Eating habits...

Being Gluten free I relaly don't have much to choose from to begin with....I eat a lot of chicken, DH is getting sick of it for dinenr every night! So I do add in steak and sausage when I get a chance.

I also eat a lot of ice cream, something I barely ate when I was not pregnant!!! I also eat nachos ALL the time, not as much recently, but during the second trimester I had them every day without fail!!!

I'm pretty much the same as I was before. I eat ok most of the time...cereal or toast for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, I used to cook a lot of dinner but we order japanese or chinese sometimes, lots of sushi. Never really did any snacking not a lot of sweets either.

Now with the nausea I'm snacking a lot more. I also try to eat fresh fruit or vegetable or both everyday. So I have toast or cereal, chocolate milk and a banana in the morning. I snack on goldfish or crackers before lunch. Lunch is hot food or hot sandwich usuallly, then dinner is where I'm slacking. I've been craving cheeseburgers like crazy and have no desire to cook. We've been ordering in a lot as I've been so tired. But I'm trying to eat fresh veggies for after dinner snack

Re: Eating habits...

I've been trying to stick to things that are high in vitamins and fiber... these pre-natal vitamins make me constipated Chat Icon So, if I eat things like kale and escarole I'm good! Those two things also really keep you full and feeling satisfied, they are delicious too. I saute them in garlic and olive oil - the extra virgin olive oil is good for the baby too and great for digestion.

For breakfast I like Fiber One cereal because it is healthy and keeps me full and regular. I do crave these little Entemann's corn muffins that come in a box - those, I allow myself because they bring me such joy Chat Icon I like whole wheat raisin toast with organic grape jam a lot for snack. I also like organic string cheese - mozzarella. That with an apple, I usually eat that every night as a snack. I'm still turned off from a lot of meat but every once in a while I'll feel like chicken or shrimp - which Doc said was OK as long as it is cooked. So, I will have like chicken fajitas or shrimp with whole wheat pasta.

The only weird habit is that I eat the same seven things over and over again - every single day. I just can't seem to want anything else. The above is in my 'comfort zone' and I find them appetizing so I just stick with that. I also make sure to drink organic apple juice and organic skim milk - Doc recommended the milk. I get like a glass of each a day.

I feel like I eat like a nine year old Chat Icon

Eating habits...

I've been horrible lately. First of all I get home from work after sitting in stupid traffic (I hate LI for this reason) and all I want to do is put sweatpants on and take a nap on the couch! I'm in NO mood to cook anything. Plus my husband usually gets home 2 hours after me and I find myself snacking before he gets home. Than MAYBE I'll make something quick for him like grilled cheese or soup or something frozen, or order something and maybe I'll eat a little bit or not eat at all. I'm also in no mood to go to make my lunch so I've been going to the deli or Quiznos or Dunkin donuts (been craving their veggie eggwhite flatbreads lately and at least they're healthy). I try to avoid McDonalds and other "junky" fast food places. Still if I made my own lunch I'd be eating much better. I'm hoping things will improve now that I'm approaching the 2nd trimester.

I've been TERRIBLE with my diet. I lost 12 lbs in the beginning from hyperemisis but have since gained 22 lbs at 29 weeks. I went to the doctor today and she told me I gained 6 lbs in the last month and I need to start watching what I'm eating. I told myself after this weekend (it's my birthday tomorrow) I will try and do better but I feel like what the baby wants, the baby gets! I'll just start eating more apples and plums and fruit inbetween meals. I guess I just got happy that I could eat again!

I try to eat bad/junky things in moderation but I have been having certain food aversions, so I sometimes aren't too strict. I rarely drink soda, no juice, and limit sweets. I have lost 6 lbs so far and DR isn't concerned. I go through spurts of eating totally healthy and then totally junky.

I ate much better before I got pregnant. The first 2 trimesters I spent throwing up. This last one all I want is chocolate. If its not a chocolate bar, a donut, a cookie or Friendly's chocolate ice cream which I want right now I just choke it down.
