Fencing question...
When putting up a fence, do you put it in a couple of feet from the property line?
We have a survey of our land and getting a few quotes from fencing companies but wondering what people typically do...
TIA!

Re: Fencing question...
Check with your town, sometimes they have rules about where you can put a fence. Also, be careful with the fence companies reading your survey. One particular company came and did not read my survey correctly. We ended up getting our property "staked out" to make sure we were within our property lines.

We are checking with our town and getting a permit and we have a survey of our property (and our HOA has no restrictions)...so that all said, just wondering what others typically do.
When you say your company didn't read it properly, did THEY stake it out? Or someone else?

Fencing question...
we staked our own property because my brother is a surveyor and most fence companies say any error is your fault and to move it is your cost
we put our fence on our property line in most places. We moved it slightly off our property line to keep a tree in one spot but that was our choice

Re: Fencing question...
The fence company read the survey wrong and if we went with them we would have been "giving" some property to a neighbor. We hired a private land surveyor to come in to "stake it out."

Fencing question...
We plan to put it next to our property line along the back and sides because we have an oversized, treed property. In the front, it will be a few feet behind the property line, and it can only be 4ft in the front.
