Telling coworkers...

...so i finally told coworkers yesterday -- at 14.5 weeks.
Told my bosses the day i turned 13 weeks.

I've gotten many comments that I waited a while to tell, and that im "far along already"...even though you visually cannot see that im preg.

I also had someone tell me that they knew for a while i was preg bc i was being "impatient with them" and it wasnt normal for my personality

When did you make the news public to coworkers.
PS- the news spread like wildfire...just like i knew it would.

Telling coworkers...

13 weeks....there are a few other girls pregnant as well so it's so weird when they now walk past me and only stare at my stomach lol
I guess they know by their stares but it's just funny. Smile and say 'I heard the news' lol
Anyways, my boss knew at 4 weeks b/c i did infertility treatments and i was out a lot so i told her. My boss is my 'friend', she and i used to hold the same position but then she was promoted after our boss got let go...so a bit of a different relationship.

Telling coworkers...

I'm trying to wait as long as possible though one of them knows because she's also a very good friend. We have a small staff and one of the girls I supervise is pregnant right now with her first -- almost 23 weeks. She keeps making comments about other women in her life who are expecting saying things like, "Babies everywhere!! Something's in the water! I'm telling you...!" And I smile and nod and think, if only you knew......

I hope I can wait the full 12 weeks before telling anyone -- worried I might start showing before then being that this is DC #2. My nausea has been constant but ebbs and flows and it's not to the point where I'm laid out and vomiting (which I pray NEVER happens!) so I don't even want to tell my supervisor unless I absolutely have to.

Re: Telling coworkers...

I told my immediate boss at 6 weeks, the program director at 8 weeks and another supervisor at 8 weeks. I told 2 co-workers around 12 weeks.

We had a training on attachment theory last week and the conversation turned to the fact that attachment begins in utero. The trainer (whom I've never met until that day) looked at me and said, "Tell me, what have you been doing to attach to the baby?." (90% of my dept - about 25 people didn't know yet.) I turned bright red (the people who did know started chuckling, looked around the room and then just responded.

The trainer sold me out lol.

Re: Telling coworkers...

We told everyone (family, friends & coworkers) when I was 14 weeks. I happen to be 14 weeks on Easter and I knew we were seeing both families, so we made our announcement then. After we told family, we made calls to our friends, and that Monday we told our coworkers.

Re: Telling coworkers...

I haven't told anyone at work yet (not supervisors, not coworkers) and I'm 24 weeks!!

I'm not showing now, it just looks like I've gained a few pounds. I still wear my regular clothes. If I can make it another month without saying anything, I will. (I probably won't go much longer than that because I know there's paperwork I need to fill out by a certain time & I don't want to cut it too close.) If my body starts to change before then, I'll tell them whenever I have to as it becomes obvious.

Tough for them if they get mad about you waiting "too long"!! It's your news to share & you can do it whenever you're ready!!

Re: Telling coworkers...

^^^^^^

See that's is the other thing that I feel will make me have to tell them sooner than I want to...

I work with a lot of women who are extremely honest, straightforward, matter-of-fact, do not sugar coat...you get my drift. If they notice you're gaining weight they have no problem saying it (same goes for when you're losing it). I told my friend that if people at work start talking ---- about me behind my back about gaining weight, she better let me know.

I just find it so rude! I havent gained or lost. I look exactly the same. I also found it rude that one coworker said I was being impatient with her. I barely speak to her or have to interact with her, so to me it was just a dig. I dont get people sometimes !!

Telling coworkers...

I to my bosses at 5w because I was extremely sick. Co-workers at 12w. One of my co-workers proceeded to tell me she could tell because my face looked chunkier. By that time I had lost about 15pnds. I think people like to hear themselves talk.

This time I didn't tell until 16 weeks.

The first time I told at 12 weeks, the 2nd I told even earlier.
