My apt flooded!!!! And no I don't mean my water broke!
So I was getting ready to go to my doctor appointment and then head into the city for the RR fitting that I have. I turned the washing machine on and BAM water was coming from EVERYWHERE! We live in an apt and the washing machine is at the end of the kitchen, it's one of those ventless, washer and dryers in one (not a stackable).
I couldn't get the water to turn off and thank goodness my dad works 2 blocks away! He came running over and shut off the water. The ENTIRE apt was flooded! The kitchen, eating area, entry way, and living room! Apparently it leaked to the apt below and housing called me. They showed up with 4 maintenance guys, 2 wet dry vacs and a mop. My sister showed up with a wet dry vac as well. I called DH and told him he had to come home. They cleaned up everything and 2 hours later I'm still having a panic attack!!!! My poor Avery (our cat) couldn't come out from her hiding spot because everything was wet and the vacuums scare her.
Now the water is mostly gone but the damage is all over. I have been on the phone and spoken to 5 person already and they just keep transferring me to other people!!! I am seriously going to freak out on someone soon if someone doesn't help me!!!!!!
Please pray for my sanity because none of this can be good for the baby!

omg!! soo sorry this happened to you! but please try to remain calm! at least the water has been vaccumed!! now its just a matter of taking care of everything else!!! feel better and hope you can get someone one the phone soon

Oh no!!!  I hope this can be resolved soon, it's good so many people came to help with the mess! I'd be freaking out too!!

Our basement flooded last summer due to a pipe burst in the wall. The most important thing is getting all the water out which is already done! Calm down! I would recommend running a dehumidifer for a week to pull out any remining moisture to ensure mold doesnt form. That's what we did and it removed so much more water. And there is not even an hint of odor now and we didn't have to replace anything.

Thank you girls!!!! Yesterday was a LONG day!!! We aren't supposed to have a washing machine in the apt and now we're scared we're going to get kicked out because we have one. We're also hoping that there was no damage to the apt below us.
My insurance company told me that any personal items in the apartment is covered under our policy but the apartment itself isn't covered. We think we need all new cabinets and with DH working 6 days a week, 10 hour days we aren't sure how they will get installed without hiring someone (another added expense).
We think we got all the water up but I am going today and getting a dehumidifier to put in the apartment (thank you to the PP that suggested that). I just hope this all works out and we don't have to really do anything and everything is totally ok.
AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!
