Pediatrician Question

How does this work?

When I pick my pediatrician do I have to let them know? Do they need to be affiliated with my hospital?

Any BTDT mom's use Dr. Grello? Or Dr. George who apparently worked with Dr. Grello and that got his own practice? Fred Grello (the father) was my pediatrician and literally saved my life when I had meningitis.

If you "interviewed" what questions did you ask?

You should call them ahead of time. Both of mine required me to attend an info session prior to giving birth. This took the place of an interview and eliminated the need for me to ask any questions.

They do not have to be affiliated with the hospital, but if they aren't I believe a different doctor will see the baby in the hospital.

Pediatrician Question

I interviewed the pediatrician (he answered all of my questions before I asked them except for one which dealt with a specific concern related to my family history of illness). I didn't contact them to let them know I was going with them ahead of time. At L&D they asked me who I chose as a ped. A few hours after DS was born he came into my room and update me on DS.

Pediatrician Question

We chose Dr George. We set up an appt went in for about half an hour met 2 Drs. They told us about the practice. We asked about shots and allergies 2 of my main concerns. We left and when she's born we just have to tell the nurse who is our ped. The hospital will call the practice and whomever is on call will come down to due the evaluation.
