Once I have the baby, what do I need to do? Obviously call my school and let them know, but what else? Call insurance? Or do I have to wait until I get the birth certificate? I don't remember at all what I did with my ds

In the last year or so they changed the insurance process. I think you have to have the birth cert. now. Before it was just a foot print.
Did you fill out your FLMA forms and other paper work? If so then just notify the school with the due date. Then enjoy your leave. I would ask the payroll person if they need anything.

I just called about something else and their message said they only accept either a birth certificate or a letter from the hospital

When you want to get your new DC on insurance, you need a birth certificate. You can start the process online, if you do this within 30 days of delivery. Of course, no one told us that so we have do everything by paper forms. Not that bad but annoying.
