Ok...what should I wear?
we have been invited to a Saturday evenning, Greek christening at Terrace on the Park in Flushing Meadows Park in May. Should I dress like I was going to a saturday night wedding? (reception starts at 7pm). I have never been to an affair there but it looks upscale. I am plus size and tend to wear black. Is is bad taste to wear black to a christening? I can't belive how fashionably challenged I have become

I would wear a cocktail gown like I would a wedding. Black is fine!
I wouldn't wear either of the dresses you posted. If Greek Christenings are anything like Italian Christenings, they are pretty dressy!

I wouldn't wear those dresses you posted- I've never been there, but I hear it's actually pretty fancy. Not GOWN fancy, but a nice cocktail dress, even if it is during the day.

Personally, I think those patterns are way too busy.
Dress Barn is a great place. I recently got a vintage-inspired black cocktail dress there.
I also got a long black gown recently at Macy's. With coupons and their charge card, I got it pretty inexpensive as well.
