Any tips to make the new addition easy on my son? He's a little over 2 years.

Re: When baby #2 comes
DS 1 just turned two when DS 2 came. Since a lot of family and friends were coming over at the time playing with him and bringing gifts he didn't seem to mind it. He liked the attention. I the beginning the baby doesn't do anything anyway so my older DS just ignored the baby a lot. I made sure he got his own special time and kept him st daycare part time at the time bc it was summer and he loved it there. That helped a lot. Now he's almost 4 yrs old and the baby is almost 21 months old. They are best of buds .... Usually. Lol DS1 probably doesn't even remember a time without his little brother.

When baby #2 comes
DS was 27 months old when DD2 was born 2.5 months ago. He adjusted much better then I had anticipated. I never "blamed" the baby (I wouldn't say don't yell the baby is sleeping I would say don't yell your hurting Mama's ears) if DS needed something but DD2 did also I would quickly calm her and then take care of him. I let him help with little things, getting a diaper, shaking the bottle, playing with toys.
Good luck! It's a rough few weeks at first but gets better quickly!

When baby #2 comes
Hello,
Congratulations!!! on your expecting #2. The best thing you can do for the older child is to keep his routine as normal and same as possible. Let the child know that mommy is expecting a baby and when mommy belly pop then comes the baby but you also love DS.
A Baby Nurse can help with this and transition the older sibling into the family. Here is a link to where you can find great Baby Nurses visit:www.babyangelsonline.com
They do get booked up quickly but they bend over backwards to help you out, so give them a call.

When baby #2 comes
We kept DS' routine as similar as possible. We kept him in daycare part time while I was on leave.
I got DS a present from the baby as well - blocks. He didn't come to see me in the hospital and we came home while he was at daycare to get settled in. He met his brother quickly and then was more interested in the blocks.
The beginning was actually the easiest since the baby did a lot of sleeping. We spent a lot of time outside - DS 2 would sleep in his stroller while DS 1 and I played. I also set up a lot of playdates with his friends from school.

Hug him every moment you are not touching the baby. Tell him it is HIS baby.... Like a pet, get him involved. There will still be hard times, but Luke everyone said... They will be so close!

Thanks! I am 35 weeks and we have been doing this. I wish I could afford a baby nurse...
