quick DVC question
I highly doubt we would do it but resale prices were more reasonable than I would have thought so I'm investigating.
My question: does the number of points that you need for a specific stay ever change? I thought I read that it doesn't, but then I see that there are different point charts for different years, which shouldn't be necessary.
Let's say I buy 90 points because I think that fits my needs. I want to make sure that the next year the number of points required for the stay that I typically book is doesn't go up even a little because then I am either out of luck or borrowing points from next year, right?
I realize maintenance fees will go up and that's fine but if the number of points required ever rise that seems like a double whammy.

Re: quick DVC question
The total points needed for a particular resort can never change - they can be reallocated though.
The points basically stay the same. There are slight differences each year because of reallocation to different "seasons" to account for holidays, etc.
There are also reallocations regarding room type. If DVC raises point types on a one-bedroom Theme Park View at Bay Lake, it must lower them for another room category at Bay Lake. Or they can raise them for weekend stays but lower the number of points needed for weekday stays. For every "raise" in points, they must also lower them somewhere else.

Gotcha - makes sense.
Even reallocating could be a problem because we really prefer President's week. I am a teacher and we have an almost 3 year old so we are limited to school breaks for the next 20 years or so. Plus, I hate the heat with a passion. President's week is perfect for us except for the price, but we s*ck it up and look for deals because it meets our needs otherwise.
Thanks!!

Re: quick DVC question
Mill is correct. If you look online you can find points charts for the past few years and see that the changes haven't been too drastic.
If you do find yourself short a few points you can always do a transfer from another member, bank and borrow, or buy one time use points from Disney
