Gas Help
DD is really gassy! She will go down for a nap and within an hour wake up with really bad farts. She is pooping and they look pretty normal. I just think the gas is making her uncomfortable. I think I might call the ped tomorrow just to make sure it's normal. I don't want her to suffer.
Anyone have anything similar or any suggestions to reduce the gas? She is 2 weeks old.
Thanks!

Re: Gas Help
Unfortunately what you're experiencing is often very normal. It really is frustrating and upsetting nonetheless. I used to give Mylicon drops (don't know if they actually helped or not), I would lie her on her back and rub her belly a bit, and sometimes I would give her a couple of teaspoons of warmed sterilized water (I would boil the water and let it cool, then when I needed it I would just nuke the little bit that I needed). Other than that, lying her belly down on your forearm so that the pressure is on her belly and walking with her sometimes helps.

Mylacon is typically recommended.

Re: Gas Help
My little girl had really bad gas. Are you bottle feeding the doctor told me it the air that is in the bottle. That why they recommend breastfeeding.
These are the things I did.
Teaspoons of water and instead of ready to feed formula I switched to powder b/c its water based and it was easlier on her stomach and within a day Mariella was a different little girl.

Re: Gas Help
When you feed her, try feeding her a perpendicular angle. If you failed geometry, that means as upright as you can get her. That helps the gas to escape. If you're bottle feeding, a Podee will help. She sits upright with the nipple in her mouth. If you're nursing, prop her up with a pillow so her head is as high up as it can be while still nursing.
In the beginning stages of gas, it's in her belly. It's easily expelled by gravity if she's upright or burping more while feeding. Once it reaches her intestines, it becomes extremely painful - and there's only one way to pass it, farting or while pooping. Belly time, bicycling her legs, the football hold will all but pressure on her stomach & will help relieve intestinal gas pain. The trick is help her pass gas before it reaches her instestines.
