Anywhere to get a crib that has drop-down sides? Even if it means going OOS.
My friend is very short and is afraid that she won't be able to reach the baby without being able to drop down the side, especially once the crib is lowered as the baby gets bigger. She isn't comfortable lifting the baby while standing on a stool. I know NY will only sell cribs with stationary sides, but is there anywhere you know of to still get one with a drop side. Plus, the baby's room will never be big enough for a full size bed, and it seems silly to have to pay for a crib that converts to that when it will be pointless.

Not sure about drop side cribs, but my mom is short and bought a crib for her house thats designed for petite/short moms. She got it off Craigslist, so I'm not too sure of the manufacturer, but I can try to find out.

I am 5' and I have a reg crib and I can reach. By the time the mattress is at the lowest setting they are standing so I never really have to reach down.
Also she can put a step stool in the room if necessary.
Drop downs are banned everywhere not just nys

Behrs has a crib that allows you to fold about 3 inches of the crib down so you can get the baby in and out easier.

Nooooo drop sides! I'm 4'11' and got a crib with 4 mattress height levels and I can reach fine without bending. Drop downs are not safe for many reasons. I understand not wanting a stool to get the baby out of the crib but there are other options

What about putting baby down sleeping/dozing?

Great, thanks. I'll tell her to check it out.

I was at IKEA last week and they had a crib thay looked very low to the ground to begin with. I didn't take a really good look at it, but maybe have her check some of thier cribs.

I'm 5" and was worried about being too short to reach into the crib. I got the Torino collection at Buy Buy Baby. It slops in the middle and I felt that might make it easier to reach. Slide down cribs are NOT safe and are NOT legal for a reason. Try googling reviews for cribs that short people use. That might help out your friend. Also my SIL is 4'11" (barely) and she has no problem reaching down into the crib to put my niece to sleep.

I'm 4' 10" and have no problem getting ds out because he's standing. Putting him down is only a slight challenge if he's sleeping because I basically do a controlled drop the last few inches. But he's usually awake so he goes in standing too.

Im under 5' have a regular crib and was always able to get the babies out just fine with no issues. I think she will be fine.

im 5 feet on a good day and i have no issues getting my DD out of her crib on the lowest setting. it took a little getting used to when we lowered it but IMO if places no longer sell drop-side, there is a good reason for that. id guess if she wants one shed have to get it used off of craigslist.
