It depends on what you like to do.

I love Vermont. Route 100 has a lot of little touristy stops along the way where you can sample and buy maple syrup, shop, etc. It's a very pretty drive.

There is a restaurant in Killington that has these cinnamon maple pancakes that are incredible. I think it's called Sugar and Spice or something.

There is also Burlington which has a lot to do.

Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory gives a fun tour and you get a sample at the end that is basically the size of an actual cup of ice cream. It's outside of both Burlington and the capital, Montpelier, which is very pretty but tiny and I'm not sure how much there is to do.

I've been to Maine and that's nice too; you can stop at Boston on the way as well for more of a city environment.

There is this foot spa place in portland where you can go and get massages together.

I enjoyed Portsmouth New Hampshire.

There are lots of restaurants, cute stores you can take a boat tour of little islands off the coast, you can walk across a bridge to Kittery, ME. Therw is an outlet mall that is a short drive over the border in ME. If you like beer there is the Redhook Brewery & The Portsmouth Brewing Company/Smuttynose Brewery.

There is also Strawberry Banke, which is a historical site (not the best, but something intersting to do while you are there.)

I think you can rent kyaks too, if you're into that.

It's not a very long drive. We went once just to go there & once we stopped there overnight on the way back from Bar Harbor, ME.
