Crashing-cost of day care?

Dh and I aren't trying yet, really because we want to be prepared for west to expect financially. We live in seaford, so would be looking for care in the vicinity.

How much do you pay per month? Can you do 3/4 days a week instead of full time? Also, what about time Kure off from work-do you still pay? I'm a teacher, so I have a lot of time off.

I use a sitter in her house part time. It is $80 per day, DD usually goes from 715 to 4. Food and milk/juice are provided by her. I am a teacher also and don't pay when I don't send DD, we arranged this in advance.

It all depends on which daycare you choose. My DS (20 mo) goes to daycare in plainview. It is geared towards teachers in that they close all school holidays and basically go by the school district calendar. That being said, they are closed all next week for Passover and we pay the same for March as any other month. Summer is totally optional. They do options of 2/3/5 days a week. For 5 days a week, 9am-4pm, it's about $1250/month for infants. They do before care (6:45am - 9am) and after care (4pm - 6pm) as well that they can include in your monthly fee.

I was a licensed provider for years so I know a lot about daycare. A lot of in home programs will have special pricing for teachers. Some will not make you pay for your days off or make you pay for the summer months while others may make you pay a fee to hold your spot. Most childcare centers make you pay year round to hold your spot. Daycares can run between 40-100 a day it all depends who and where you choose.

We're paying $325/week. (There is a 5% discount if you pay for the month in full) For newborns that is the price regardless of how many days a week you send them or how long they are there per day. If you're off for certain weeks and you tell them in advance you won't have to pay but I don't know if they would hold a spot for an entire summer.

I pay $195 for 3 days of care, meals are included.

There are a number of in-home daycares that cater to teachers and follow that schedule, so you may want to pursue one of those. Mine is open year-round which I needed since I am in corporate.

For the first yr we juggled DD around. Mon/tues sitter came to us all day. Wed rhurs fri she went to our friends house who babysat her.
That first yr sucked. At 12 Mos we put her a a good daycare center by our house for 3 days per week. That was around 750/mo. Then at 19 mos we put her in there full time, 5 days, which cost around 1k.
As soon as she turned 2, it dropped slightly to like $940/mo

We pay $595 a month for 2 days a week. This is in Suffolk. I pay regardless of whether he is home or not. It's a small center (not a chain).

We use a center, DC goes 3 days a week (not all centers do PT, however). We pay $270/week for 3 days per week. You cannot pull them out for say, the summer, they will not hold your spot. We pay for days we are signed up for whether or not we drop off DC that day.

I use a center. I pay 249/week for 3 days. I pay whether he is there or not. We do get 2 1/2 weeks for vacations.

Also as a teacher I would look for places that work with teacher schedules cause when summer comes if you pull your child out you lose your spot in a center. Busy centers have wait lists

I use a smaller center and only pay for the time we are there. It's $50 per child for a full day (8 hrs) and I pay hourly if it's less than that ($8 for DS 11mos and $5 DD 31/2 yrs).

We pay $227 for 2 days a week. Our daycare has a 3 day plan and 5 day plan too. Most places I am aware of don't have 4 day plans.

I pay $1,700 a month for 4 day for 2 babies but not daycare. I use a babysitter at her home. Can't wait until that is back in my pocket!!!! It really sucks but its only temporary and if I didn't work we wouldn't have anything left over to save or add to retirement so I try to think of it that way.

I pay $158 a week for two days. I forget how much it is for 3 days. I'm pretty sure 4 days is considered full time. We go to a large well known facility and the prices range based on location. I believe for vacation we pay 1/2 rate for the week but we haven't had to use this yet.

We pay $911 for 3 days/week. Includes breakfast, lunch, & snack.

ETA: we pay whether he goes or not, but after 1 year get a week vacation free.

we go to a small daycare center in levittown. DS started out going 2x a week and has slowly moved up to 4x a week because of my work schedule. we pay $75 a day.

i only found 2-3 places that would take DS part time. and yes, you still have to pay if you don't send DC. Our place allows you 1 "vacation" week where you don't have to pay. they have told me they also work with teachers over the summer because they know you are home, but might still want to send the child in here and there.

I pay $95 per week ($65 per day) for a licensed family group daycare (house setting, but not in someone's actual house in this case). They provide food, although DD is still an infant, so obviously I'm providing formula, and I send in some specific foods when we're introducing new things.

My daycare does not make me pay for vacations, and is okay if want to send her once during my week off, and I just pay for the day.

When I called day care centers (most in seaford) they only let you do set days part time (ex- Mon Wed Fri, or Tues/Thurs full days).. Also you had to pay even if you didn't send them but you got like, 2 weeks free or something if you went full time. Full time was around $340-350 a week. You are better off finding an at home daycare that is willing to work with your schedule.

I pay $50 a day for inhome daycare. That includes all meals and snacks, from 8-4. Im mis suffolk, so wont help you. Just an idea of cost.
