Endometrial Biopsy
My doctor wants me to have an endometrial biopsy done next week. He doesn't think anything is wrong with my lining but he said there is evidence that implantation has a better chance of occurring in a healing uterus. Has anyone had this done? I am not sure if I should plan to go to work afterwards. From what I read online, some people have next to no pain and others were in extreme pain. I have to decide in advance if I am taking off, because I am a teacher and I will need to leave plans. I am willing to do whatever it takes, but to be totally honest I am scared to have the test done!
Any insight would be appreciated!!
Thanks!

Re: Endometrial Biopsy
I had this done. It wasn't too bad. I had some cramping afterwards. I work from home, so I didn't have to worry about going back.

Re: Endometrial Biopsy
I was petrified too!! I took off just in case; everyone is different, and you never know how you're going to feel until you have it. I didn't want to take a chance of being in pain and having to go back to work.
For me, it was so quick and I hardly felt a thing. They had me take 600mg ibuprofen 1 hr before. Speculum was the worst; hardly felt catheter; didn't even know he was taking the biopsy. Was less than 5 minutes; towards the end I had one quick moment when I started to feel crampy but then it was over. I went home and relaxed, but I wasn't in pain. I also took 400mg of Motrin after it was over.
Best of Luck!!!!!

Re: Endometrial Biopsy
I have had three - took some motrin before each one and was totally fine after. The procedure itself can be uncomfortable but it is really quick so it's done before you know it. GL!

Re: Endometrial Biopsy
Thanks for all the responses. I had it done this morning, was not half as painful as I thought it would be. Kind of like a bad pap smear. I decided to take off in case I was feeling bad, and I am a bit crampy so I am happy I took the day. Thanks for your help!
