Japanese Hair Straightening (JHS)
I've done JHS for the past few years. I've been growing it out for the past 6 months and it's a MESS! I feel like it's more damaged and brittle than normal, and you can see the line of old hair and new. I'm pregnant now and can't do JHS now if I wanted but what can I do in the meantime?
Has anyone grown out JHS to get their old hair back? Ideas on what to do? It looks bad and my 'old' hair is growing back and looks a lot more damaged (not sure that is possible but it looks that way).

Can you do Keratin in the meantime? I don't think there are chemicals?

My stylist wouldn'tet me do the Brazilian (non-formadyhyde) sp? While I was pregnant or nursing. As soon as I stopped its the first thing I did!

I grew out my JHS when I was pregnant but my hair was pretty strong. I only JHS one time a year normally and don't color so my hair held up well. I couldn't wait to get back and do JHS again

Re: Japanese Hair Straightening (JHS)
For now I'm doing nothing, just moisturizing it over and over. I think I'm trying to get away from doing JHS or keratin all together...but I'm worried because it looks so bad growing out. Maybe I just need to give it more time? Thank God DH is like I love your hair...but I just don't like it at all right now. JHS is nice but its SUPER flat so I was hoping to get away from it...

Unfortunately, mine just took time to grow out. Once the roots grow in a bit it's easier to manage because you can pull it tight to blow dry again. The growing out process is tough, I promised myself after that I'd never do anything similar again. It does grow out though and go back to normal!!

that's why i do keratin instead of JHS, because of the regrowth line. have you tried flatironing it? also maybe get biosilk silk therapy, it's a leave-in conditioner that i comb through my hair after i wash it, it makes it a lot softer. it's not cheap (though i just ordered some on amazon for a good price) but you only need a little so it lasts a while.
also there are some keratin shampoos and conditions out there (i mean ones with kertain in it, not ones for people who get keratin straightening), maybe those would help?

I gw mine out for the same reason. I cut it short, like a bob, so that I had less to blow dry. By the time I has my son, it was almost all cut out. I loved jhs, but won't do it again be it was such a pita to grow out. Good luck!
