went for my 36 week check up
had a quick question.. they said my amniotic fluid was normal but on the low side and they would have to monitor this... anyone have any experience on this? Does it mean I will give birth early?

Never had this happen but I believe if the fluid hits a certain level they may induce you or schedule section. Just drink a lot of water..good luck,

Yea it means if it's low they won't let you go on and go into labor on your own, like above poster said they will induce or c-section

My fluid was low normal at 38.5 weeks and baby wasn't moving as much. They had me come back 2 days later. Fluid was then just below normal and baby was back to being active. If she hadn't been active or fluid was any lower they would have induced. Instead I had the option of being induced or waiting 2 more days for a recheck. I decided to wait but they stripped my membranes to hurry things along and that put me into labor, though it wasn't very effective labor, so the next morning they broke my water and started pitocin...baby was born compketely healthy an hour and a half later.
My friend had low fluid starting around 30weeks. They monitored her closely and always threatened c section if numbers didn't improve (she was having section because baby was breech). Her levels fluctuated and 12days before her due date they said she had to have the c section that night because fluid was too low.

not sure numbers but they said it was normal but the low end of normal. the doc said drink a lot of fluid.. apparently it could replenish itself.. they will monitor me each week:)

Im 34w and I have low end of normal. Its being monitored. Dr actually said it may be why I am so crampy and it will just be monitored.

Hope it doesn't get too low. Mine was at a 4 and I was induced - I think that is the cutoff. Drink lots of water and try to take it easy.
