Craziness every morning
Its the same routine every morning. We go downstairs around 7:30 - 8ish. My 3.5 yr old and 20 month old get breakfast. They get dressed and my 3.5 yr old gets picked up for school. We've been doing it for a long time now. Why is it an issue every morning to get dressed, go potty for my older DS or get a diaper change for the baby. They give me a hard time every morning like its new. Ugh!
My older DS loves school and gets so excited when the bus comes, but till then it's trouble. Takes forever to get dressed then he tell me it's night so he needs to be in his pajamas. Then he said its hot so he doesn't need a jacket then it's something else. He wants to put his shoes on the wrong feet on purpose. He doesn't want to go out, it's saturday so no school and it goes on and on. The bus comes and he's this little saint all excited to go off. He's perfect at school. Is anyone else have some mornings like this. It's not every morning, but most and nothing has changed.

Someone suggested 1 2 3 Magic to me and it is amazing. There are sections in the book with specific examples about what you are talking about.
Good luck!!!

Believe me he doesn't get away with it. Some days are better than others. I'll have to check the book out. It's just that it gets hectic trying to do everything with two little boys who forget the routine everyday.

Tommy is the same way..if it's not light enough outside it's still "night time"..some socks and underwear are only for night time and some are for "dressed"...today we are not going to school Mommy...and it goes on...procrastinating at 3.5!

Craziness every morning
when my nephew was younger, he would do the same thing to my soster. I created a chart with all of his morning to dos with a time next to it. we put a digital clock next to the chart. he would check off each thing as he got ready. if he had 5 days of no issues, he would get a small prize friday after school. it may not be ideal for your situatiom but it did help my sister

Craziness every morning
Same at my house. I have said my least favorite part of being a ftwm is that I am forced to rush everyone in the morning and most mornings have at least some bit of arguing with at least one kid to hurry, get dressed, we 're gonna be late, etc.

Re: Craziness every morning
I have a 5 year old and 2 year old. Two crazy boys. The two times of day that I find the toughest : trying to get out the door in the morning, and when I am making dinner!
The 5 year old is stubborn and gives me attitude and push- back about getting dressed. Every time, without fail. This is even if we are going somewhere he loves.
The only thing that works is a sense of humor. I laugh about it, and get my stuff ready to go, get the little guy dressed. I nag him, he won't do it. I ignore him and act like it is not a big deal, I turn around and he is all ready to go.
It is annoying. But I guess it is about control. I find that with eating, too. My younger guy will eat his meals if I don't pester him about it.
Good luck, we need lots of physical and mental energy to be parents!!!

I totally understand about them not getting away with it! I didn't let mine either, but it caused me so much stress. I just can't believe how easy the 1 2 3 is...I thought for sure it would NEVER work in our house with 4 crazy boys!, but its been a wonderful tool!

Re: Craziness every morning
I hate every morning. Every morning when I finally arrive at work I swear DS is my first, last and only because I am not programmed with the patience to deal with the stress that he causes me with his antics. I understand that he is a toddler but I'm just not built to handle it.
It is a full blown wrestling match to change his diaper and get him dressed. Then he will tear my entire house apart while I'm getting ready and I just let him do it because it's occupying him, giving me the time I need to get ready. Then when I get home, I'm so bitter that I have to clean up the mess the tazmanian devil caused in the morning.
So trust me, I feel your pain.

Re: Craziness every morning
Same thing at my house, my boys are 5, 3, and 1 and it's a nightmare to get everyone ready and out the door to drive the oldest to preschool by 9am.
I found my 3yo to be the biggest time taker so one day I asked him what I could do to help him be better about getting ready. He gave me a list of ways to help him - - Make a rule for no TV on school mornings - Make a rule to get dressed before breakfast - Make a rule of no playing before oldest DS gets to school - After breakfast and teeth brushing, they should put their coats and shoes on and wait by the front door.
I almost fell over when he gave me these suggestions but I implemented all of them and now he criticizes me if my coat's not on right after I brush MY teeth.
