Trying to come up with some ideas on what to do with DD if Chat Icon comes in the middle of the night, while DH is at work, etc.

Wondering what everyone else's plans are to get some ideas!

Re: If this is not your first, what are your plans for your other DC when you go into labor?

this is my biggest issue. I'm actually due today ans still no sign of baby.

We live oot from ALL family and friends. I have 2 friends that have offered to help no matter what time of day/night it is. As much as I feel guilty for having to call in the middle of the night I have no choice other than bringing dd to the hospital with us. One of them just went through this and had a sitter "on call" no matter what time. She text her around midnight and said I think this is it be prepared and by 6 am she was there for her son.

We are in Boston, my FIL is on LI. As soon as we call him he will either fly or drive here to help out. He will get dd from wherever she is and bring her home or to the hospital and help for a few days.

I have this enormous gulit about having to call my friends but I will have to do it. It's not fair to wake dd in the middle of the night to bring her to the hospital where she will not get any rest. This situation has been weighing on me for a long time.

It depends what time of day it is and how fast labor is prgressing. If my kids are at school, it is towards the end of the day, and I'm at work, dh will either pick up kids, they will all meet me at hospital and my folks will meet us there, or if it is early in the day, dh will head to hosp, my folks will pick up kids, and then they will meet us at hospital. If I'm home with kids and dh is at work, I'll call him home and we'll all head in together and my folkswill meet us. If we are home together then the same minus the step of dh having to come home to get us.

Call my parents and have them come over. They are about 15 minutes away. They will have plenty of time to get here. Last time my mom was able to drive down from NY to Northern VA in time for us to leave for the hospital.

My SIL lives in NC and we are all up here in NY, her ILs are in NY too. What she did was have her ILs stay with her a week before her due date leading up to her due date and then my MIL planned to head down there when her ILs left. Turns out, that plan worked because she went into labor on the day her ILs were scheduled to leave so she was able to keep my nephew with her ILs and then my MIL flew down to make the switch.

I am having a scheduled c-section so more than likely they will be at my parents which is the next town over from where we live.

When I was close to my due date my mom knew she had to be ready for a call any time of night.

We live 3 miles from my parents and close to most of my ILs so we have plenty of options. In the worst situation I'd have to have DH drop me off then come back once someone was with DDs. (We live about a mile from Good Sam)

I didn't plan yet but either she'll be at school or hopefully my mom (I'm sure that's ok but I should double check lol)

My cousin could help here and there too, and hopefully he can be a big help with our dogs Chat Icon

Good thread Chat Icon

well hopefully my sister and BIL will be around but they have a trip scheduled the week of my due date. If not, I have 2 awesome friends that will help out- one can take me to the hospital and the other will take my ds and have him hang with her and her son

I totally have not thought about this at all!!!

I'm not sure what we'll do. Last time I went into the hospital for a scheduled induction the day before my due date and was out of delivery 4.5 hours later.

My DH can be with DD but that would leave me by myself in the delivery room...so my guess is someone has to watch DD at some point.

Re: If this is not your first, what are your plans for your other DC when you go into labor?

As of right now I am planning a repeat c-section. However, with DD, my water broke 11 days before my EDD. So even if I have a c-section scheduled at 39 weeks, my water could still break before that. So...

If I make it to the scheduled C: DD will most likely be dropped off for a sleepover at either MIL & FIL's or my parents (we haven't even discussed this yet) the night before the c-section especially if it's scheduled in the morning.

If my water breaks before my scheduled C: I will call my mom or MIL to come to the house (both live locally) and wait until they get there to head to the hospital. Which kind of leaves me with the sad thought that if my water breaks in the middle of the night again, I won't get to say "see ya later" to my baby before I head in...hmm Chat Icon

While I'm in the hospital... we haven't exactly discussed this but... I'd imagine whichever grandparent has DD will bring her to the hospital for visiting hours, and then take her back to our house so that she can sleep in her own bed. DH will be in and out so I'm sure we'll have help from the grandparents/aunts during that time.
