a personal, financial, question
We are running out of insurance (we have a lifetime max) so soon we'll have to pay out of pocket and I dont want to eat up too much into savings. How is everyone paying - home equity loans, personal loans, 401k loans? just curious as to what most others are doing?
I know this is a very personal question, so i hope nobody is offended by me asking...and if you dont want to share this information on this thread and you want to FM me, that would be appreciated.
TIA

Re: a personal, financial, question
I depleted an old 401K for my IVF. Worth every penny!

a personal, financial, question
We have been saving money for it for 5+ years. Right now, we are still covered by insurance, but we will most likely only get 1-1.5 cycles out of the amount we have left. People would probably describe us as very conservative with money, but when you have the possibility of 30K+ in medical expenses, you have no choice...

Re: a personal, financial, question
We have IUI coverage but not IVF. If we have to do IVF we are taking a hardship withdrawal from 401k plan. You can only do it for certain reasons, and medical expenses is one of them. We were trying to avoid a loan bc we didn't want any monthly payments.
Also, inquire at RE about grant programs. We put our name on the IVF grant wait list bc there were 50 names on it already.
Oh, and if it comes down to it, ask RE about donated meds to save cost on meds.

Re: a personal, financial, question
For my first and second cycle, we took out $ from our 401k's...set us back a lot and now we are making up for it..but completely worth it. We bought a shared risk plan. The second cycle gave us our DS, and the frozen embryos that I am now 31 weeks pg with! Good luck!

We will be going this route if need be. We do not have infertility coverage and have been depleting our savings paying for every failed iui cycle .
