I'm using them now but I'm a FTM so I haven't gone through the whole process yet. So far I am happy.

Re: Stony Brook Midwives
I'll be there Friday for my NT scan
So far they've been GREAT. It really helps to go to one of their "Meet the Midwives" nights at the Hospital.
They are so easily accessible and caring. They're very informative and I feel like they really listen and don't try to pressure you into doing something you're not comfortable with.

Re: Stony Brook Midwives
I used them for DD2 and liked them a lot. The one thing that kind of stunk was that I didn't know the woman that ultimately delivered my daughter, but I knew that could be a possibility. That was why I had a doula there - I wanted some consistency. But beyond that they were great overall.

Re: Stony Brook Midwives
I used them for both my first DS and my twins (along with dr. at the same office who ended up doing my c-section). They are amazing.

Re: Stony Brook Midwives
I used them for my second child and am using them for my third. I had a wonderful experience with my DS (natural unmedicated birth) and this pregnancy thus far too. I chose them because I cannot get the epidural and I needed support in laboring the way I needed too, which didn't include lying on my back being pumped full of IV fluids like I was with my first. My second birth was magical compared to my first with an OB!

I am considering using them for a VBAC. I am hoping this time I won't need a c-section after pushing for 2 and a half hours like last time... Thinking positively, but just in case I do need another C, did you like the doctor they are affliated with? What is his/her name/
Thanks!

Stony Brook Midwives
I used Stony Brook Midwives with my DS and hopefully another one soon. They are all wonderful, supportive women.
They are part of University Associates in OBGYN so if you need a C-section, an OBGYN from the practice who is on call would give you the C-section.
Same thing if you needed to see a MFM/high risk for a consult - all within the same practice. It's a one stop shop. All sonos are performed within their office too. Only things they don't do there are the bloodwork and gestational diabetes tests.
Unfortunately I've had to see some of the other drs (needed a D&C in dec after mmc) and everyone was very great, sweet, and understanding. They call you after you leave the hospital to make sure everything is ok and seem to genuinely care.
I drive 45mins with no traffic to SB to use them!!

Re: Stony Brook Midwives
Yep! I'm halfway through my pregnancy and used them for my well woman care. So far, I love them.
I researched a lot before choosing to start with them. We did the hospital tour and I'm very psyched to be delivering there.

My VBAC was with them. If I needed another section, I think it would've been with the OB on call. BUT they have an 88% success rate with VBAC, so I wouldn't worry too much. Good luck mama!!
