Need to get planning DS's 2nd birthday party

His birthday is May 11th, I am due in 13 days with DS # 2, and I feel like I am screwed. My intention was to get all of the planning done well before the baby but it doesn't look like that is happening. For his 1st we went all out, 75 people, rented out a pavilion at the beach, had entertainment, tons of food, etc. This year, since I will also have a 1 month old, I would like to go smaller. Maybe have 20-25 people in my backyard. Close family and friends only. He loves Yo Gabba Gabba, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Little Einsteins so I could go with one of them as a theme. But, should I get entertainment? We are getting DS a swingset for his birthday but it is not being installed until late May so it won't be there for the kids to play on. We have a water table, the step 2 roller coaster, and some other outdoor toys but is that enough? What about favors? We did pails & shovels last year so I don't want to do that again this year. I need to get invites out soon, I would like to have the party on Saturday, May 18th. What did everyone do for the 2nd birthday? TIA!

I don't think you need entertainment. But you could add to the outdoor activities by setting up a craft table, getting some balls, hula hoops, maybe borrowing a small jumpy castle from someone. As for favors, how about personalized cup/snack traps? I ordered personalized boxes for my DS boxes from this site and they came out awesome! And she is very reasonable.

A party with a 1 month old at your house will be lots of work! I'd keep it simple! If you were going to spend $, cater and get someone to help you clean up!
