Anyone have a homemade oatmeal recipe?
I've actually never made oatmeal from scratch, yet I love it.
Any recipes, tips, or type of oat suggestions?
I'd like to go as healthy, low sugar (use fruit) as possible.

If I use regular quick oats then I cook according to instructions with milk. I usually add a mix of any of the following: diced apples, cinnamon, maple syrup, brown sugar, flax meal and walnuts.

I follow the directions for regular oats, use half milk half water, add cinnamon while it cooks.
I top with applesauce or with diced apples and dried cranberries.

I make steel cut or Irish style oatmeal and mix and match the following toppings ( not all on the same day of course)
- unsweetened applesauce
- flax seed
- choppped banana
- blueberries
- blackberries
- handful of nuts ( walnuts or almonds)
- cinnamon
- greek yogurt
and I drizzle some milk over the wholel thing

I made oatmeal this morning.
Made regular rolled oats in a pot with water added real maple syrup, brown sugar and walnuts.
It was awesome.

Yes, I just recently found that one. I'm going to need to make that one day to see how long I need to cook it for. I'd love to wake up to that!!!!
