up to $7K budget with a 2 year old??
ok- long story short- FIL offered us up to $7K for a vacation! SO awesome of him! The thing is- we have DS, who is 28 months. Hes a pretty good traveler... but he still takes a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. So we would hate to go somewhere really neat (Europe, etc) and feel like we're a little restricted by his nap schedule. We also would kind of feel bad taking him somewhere really neat like that with him being too young to really remember it. When hes older "yup! you were in Italy and you saw all these cool things... sorry you don't remember it!" LOL We're already planning to do Disney with my parents in February 2014, so i thin that's out.... Any good ideas?? we're pretty opened to whatever. We're thinking we might go sometime in May, before the busy summer traveling season starts.

You can price out Breezes- depending on which room and which resort, you may be able to do that within your budget. You can also look into Club Med Sandpiper. That's super family friendly and domestic. I know you said you're going to Disney, but a Disney cruise or even another cruise line may be a good option for you as well. Just make sure you get a balcony so you and DH can relax while DC takes a nap. Disney would be the only line to offer child care for that age.
Eta- I'm sorry, I totally meant Beaches NOT Breezes. Lol

7k is a pretty good vacation for 3!!! Instead of Breezes, I've been reading not so great feedback, and I've personally stayed there years ago and it was crappy then, check out Beaches! I would also look into Aruba, the Surf Club at the Marriott is AWESOME! They have a lazy river, slide, and nice pool, plus, you would be going while kids are in school if you go in May! The weather is beautiful, it's VERY family oriented, and the restaurants are great! Happy planning!

Re: up to $7K budget with a 2 year old??
I say Europe too! My DH and I decided a long time ago having children would not stop us from vacation. We took our DS to Asia when he was 10 mths, Barbados when DD (9 mths) and DS ( 3.5),Ireland when DD was 18 mths and DS was 4 and we are going to DR in two weeks. DD is 28 mths and DS is 5.
When we went to Ireland, she adjusted to the time easily. She took naps when she wanted - we took a stroller. We walked and drove everywhere. You son will adjust! Pick something that both you and DH desire in your hearts.

Re: up to $7K budget with a 2 year old??
Europe w/ a 2 year old is NOT a vacation !! I wouldn't do Europe w/ my boys before they were 7 or 8 at an absolute minimum.
I say take a week at the beach - Atalntis, Aruba, Turks - relax and have a good time.

I agree. With my first son it wouldn't have been an issue, but every kid is different and my second DS would not do well with that type of trip....or dh and i would miss out on alot of what we would want to experience.
I say a beach vacation. Or maybe a cruise.
