art supply help

my boys r all of a sudden into drawing, and cutting, and gluing to make stuff...they are 4 and 5...figured for easter i could get them some cool art supplies...any suggestions?

also, they like to do this at the dining room table is there such thing as a "mat" that they can use tp do this?

You could get them safety scissors and scissors with different edges, whole punches, and die cut punches.
I have a bucket with markers (thin, thick, different edges), colored pencils, and a 96 piece box of crayola crayons. I have water color paints with a couple of different size brushes, and art smocks. I got them paper that you can paint or draw on. I also have a variety of stickers.
If you like glitter you can get glitter gel pens too. As for glue, I use glue sticks with them.
You could get colorful origami paper for them to cut and collage. Also mead makes a cutting paper book with designs they can make.
As for messes, I like lysol wipes to clean things up.

You can get plastic mats to put down on the table, yes. If the arts and crafts stores don't have any, you can use the kind at the cooking stores for like rolling dough and such.

For your kids, if they like to cut, i would recommend a set of special scissors (each one cuts with special designs) and you can get them a big set of crayons with special colors or a special edition box of crayola crayons in easter pastel colors or something similar. Your kids might like colorforms, at least i think that is what it is called... they are like vinyl stickers in shapes that they can "glue" (no glue necessary so not as messy) and make designs with.
