Baby is "very, very low"

I went to the doctor yesterday for my 37 week appt and the baby was "very, very low" but I am not dilated yet. Doctor told me to make sure my bag is packed and started suggesting I may go early. I was sort of shocked and didn't get to ask him a lot of questions (although maybe I shouldn't have been because I had a lot of sudden pain/pressure last Friday for several hours and I think that is when the baby must've dropped).

Is being so low, even without dilation, really a sign things could start early? Anyone with experience who can relate? Thanks.

I was told the same thing. I was very very low and not dilated. I had weekly sonos at that point and was having contractions on monitor. I could barely walk because i felt like i would crack her head like a nutcracker lol. I was being told any minute now....i ended up being induced when i was 40w3d.

Generally its a good sign so hopefully you will get lucky! So exciting!

DD was very very low the whole time.. Went into labor 2 days before due date. I got there and was 3 cms dilated and the nurse was like oh this will be easy. She's so low I can feel her your labor will be quick. We ll lo and behold 16 hour labor with 4 hours of pushing haha.

Not to scare you and hope nobody has to go through that haha you just never know.

So moral, didn't go early and had a very long delivery haha. and was on bedrest for 2 weeks for preterm labor haha

I was told the same exact thing at my 37 week appt yesterday. My gut feeling is 1-2 weeks but im still terrified of not dilating and going overdue. I guess the good news is when we do dilate, the baby will be ready to fly right out! Chat Icon

BTW are you having really bad inner tigh pain as well? Just wondering if it has to do with having a low baby.

My water broke with no dilation as well last time so there's hope! Alot of woman only start dilating if their water breaks.
