what would you do? telling parents (poll)

We intend on telling my parents after my first appointment once we get to hear the heartbeart and all. I have my appt with u/s on March 25, According to LMP I'll be a little over 8.5 weeks.

I am going to FL for a wedding, leaving on the 21 and not returning until the 25. My mother's bday is on the 23, so we won't be celebrating until the 25 at night when I get back from appointment.

I was thinking that I can tell her for her bday (gift her a grandma tee or something from the baby), or we can wait another week and tell them for Easter although we never do much for Easter besides dinner.

I would really love to tell her for her bday but I literally will have just come from doctor and will have to purchase something before I go (I've been superstitious as to not purchase anything before the u/s)

What would you ladies do??

I would buy something now and then tell her on her birthday! Once you have the sonogram pic in your hand, you'll be dying to tell her anyway!! I can't imagine going straight form my first appointment to my mom's house and being able to keep it in!!!

good point! I didn't think of that!

We planned to wait till after our first appointment but I got DH drunk and talked him into telling them earlier!!! I was soooo excited, I just couldn't wait!!!!

Get an extra sono pic and out it in her birthday card! Or hallmark has "great mothers get promoted to grandmothers" frames that would be cute with a sono pic. You could run in after your appt and throw it in a gift bag.

You can absolutely ask for more than one picture!!!
I say plan for mothers birthday. Chances are you will want to share it immediately. Those pictures make you a little vulnerable.

I voted mom's bday i think its going to be worth the wait.

DH and I broke the news on Xmas even to both my parents and inlaws at that point I was almost 8 weeks. I went to my first appt and confirmed with the heartbeat so I was good to go ....definitely do it at your mom's bday

I told my mom on her birthday with my first. I put the sono pic in a frame and put the frame face down in the box and wrapped it. So she just thought she was opening a present then saw the frame still not knowing then turned it over and bam! The tears started flowing. It was great. The frame said baby by the way. Good luck and congrats.
