BTDT - All Inclusives -

We are doing our first all inclusive vaca in Mexico/Riveria Maya.... just wondering how much money to bring for 5 days/4nights.... it is the 3 of us (DD is 4 yrs old).. we don't plan on doing any exercusions or anything, just pool/sun/eat/rest.... besides tipping and pocket money, what have you brought to an AI???

We went to an all inclusive in Mexico last year for the same exact amount of time, same amount of people. We didn't do any excursions, but we did take a cab to the flea market. We probably spent all of $100! I would bring about $300 and a credit or debit card just in case.
You probably won't need it, but better safe than sorry.

Come to think of it, we probably tipped about $100. And spent an additional $60 on souvenirs.

I was going to bring $1,000, and then today we realized our cesspool needed to be pumped... so I suggested we use part of the vaca cash to cover the cesspool, my DH not realizing I put $1,000 aside for vaca and he was like, 'what do we need $1000 for LOL'.... so I was hoping $700 would be enough... we'll I guess will be plenty !

our last stay at an all inclusive we spent 20 on tips for the week, and 30 for a souvenir..

but we've done 20 on tips for the week and nothing else

Unless you go nuts with souvenirs you won't need more than $200-$300. AIs are just that....all inclusive. You can throw a few bucks around here and there at the bar or during meals but nowhere near the amount you would at regular meals you pay out of pocket.

DH and I would always tip 1 bartender the first night at the main bar about $20-30 and for the rest of the week we'd only go to that guy and get treated like kings. Same thing with the breakfast/lunch buffets. Sit in the same section and tipped one guy good the a few times and he always would go the extra mile for us.

We are going to DREAMS in Riveria Maya... my brother went there in November and liked it, so after weeks of reading reviews and looking a pictures, and checking out PR, DR, Virgin Ilds, we ended up in Mexico (again)..... The price was great for the 3 of us (kids were not free).... will give you the update once we return April 14th. !
