Pilates

have any of you taken these classes while pregnant? I am looking to start a Pilates class but I am not sure if it has to be "prenatal".

I've heard of people doing Pilates during pregnancy but only because they were doing it before they got pregnant and were able to continue.
I don't know if you can start it during pregnancy or if theirs prenatal Pilates??

Re: Pilates

I know with yoga anyway you can just tell the instructor you're pregnant and they will tell you which positions are not safe for you to do. If it were ME personally I'd probably find a place that does a prenatal class, but I'm just paranoid and not sure I'd want to put my trust in what's ok or not in the hands of an instructor- even though logically I'm sure it would be fine.

Re: Pilates

Thank you ladies,

It's a bummer I was just reading online (unreliable source i know) that when doing Pilates after the first trimester it is important not to remain laying flat on your back because of issues with blood flow to your baby. I think i'll skip classes and follow Roz's advice in getting myself a pilates dvd.

Thanks ladiessssChat Icon
