how many naps is your 5 month old taking?
dd used to nap approx 4 times per day...lately that has dropped dramatically, yesterday she only napped once for an hour. is this normal? how long is your dc napping during the day now?

how many naps is your 5 month old taking?
My dd was never a good napper. She used to take maybe 4, sometimes 5, 30 min naps. Now I consider it a good day if I can get her to take 3 naps. She still doesn't stay sleeping for more than 30 min at a time.

They have been napping 3 times a day-for a good month and a half now.
They get up around 6, go back down from 8-10... again from 12-2 and then from 4-4:45
Those are all very ROUGH estimates.. but for the most part it's two 2 hour naps and then 1 half hr-45 min nap.

She pretty much boycotted all naps last week, but now seems to be back to her old schedule - about a 2 hour nap in the morning, a 2ish hour nap in the afternoon, and 1-2 catnaps thrown in. 2 hours of being awake is still roughly her limit.

good to know. she is napping right now like normal so maybe it was a fluke the past few days. thanks for the input ladies!

Ugh we are having major nap issues over here, so don't go by me! 
But, what I think it SHOULD be is 3 naps per day, 1 morning, 1 afternoon, and 1 early evening.
Right now we're at 1 morning nap (~1.5 hrs starting at 9:00 a.m. - though thanks to daylight savings, who the heck knows!!) and the rest is a cr@pshoot. I'm working on making a 1:00 and a 5:00 (all approximate).
My issue is the process of getting her to sleep. What do you all do? Just put down in crib awake? Rock to sleep? Nurse/bottle to sleep?

she will not nap in her crib! i'm guilty of putting her in the swing, its really the only place she will nap

Omg like 8? Lol.
Eat 8:30 pm
Sleep 9:30
Eat 4:30 am
Up 6:30, then sleep a bit
Eat 8:30, play, sleep, play, sometimes another catnap
Eat 12:40- same
Eat 4:30, play, sleep, play, crank out for another nap at 7:30, wake at 8:20, get ready for bed and eat again (unless its bath night then they get woken up around 7.
It's either catnaps or full 2-2.5 hr naps all day. They get cranky after being up for 45 mins.

I'm trying to enforce crib naps more. They sleep better in the swing. They sleep in their crib at night so I know they will do it. It's just a shorter nap then. Sometimes they will fall asleep on the activity mat or in a bouncer too.

DS still naps after almost every feeding (not right after, we play for a while first).
Not sure what "normal" is - but they do eventually drop naps. I just don't think it's done all at once. It was probably a fluke in your case.

I am guilty of rocking her to sleep every time. And the process has definitely gotten longer. She tries so hard to fight going down now, when it used to be so easy! She looks for a bottle at bedtime, not sure how to break that either. I am afraid I have created a monster!

3 naps a day which are about 45-60 min each. Sometimes longer sometimes shorter! She eats and plays for 2-2.5 hours and then naps. If she misses a nap she is a crank puss so I have to force them at times! Even if it is 20-30 min it refreshes her and her evening nap is often in her swing.
I hope she starts napping a lil longer soon...I would love two 2 hour naps. Right now it is hard to get things done during these short naps! She used to nap for 3 hours or more but once she started with an earlier bedtime she shortened her day naps and eats every 3 hrs.
