Chinese herbs and acupuncture

I know there are a few ladies who are doing acupuncture. Has your acupuncturist ever given you Chinese herbs? Dr. Xu gave me Cheng Yun Wan which is for infertility, and he told me to wait until after the stim shots to take them bc REs don't like when you take them together. I have not asked my RE.

Have any of you taken Chinese Herbal Supplements? Package says take 10 at a time 2-3 times a day, I'm assuming it is in addition to my regular prenatals right?

TIA

Yes. I took herbs when TTC. It helped AF to be more regular and not so painful. My RE said absolutely no herbs during his infertility treatment.

Definitely continue the prenatals!

Thank you :) So, I should take the herbal supps, and my prenatals, but stop the herbs while I'm doing the stim injections right?

I've never taken herbs w acupuncture but I did discuss this w my re and he said to not mix the two. I would ask them when is the best time to start/stop everything other than what they are giving you. Good luck!

Re: Chinese herbs and acupuncture

I would definitely check with your RE first before taking anything. I did acupuncture for years while doing treatments and never took herbs. My acupuncturist doesn't use them and this is actually one of the reasons I liked using him. I was taking about 100 different meds already and didn't want to make it more stressful by adding something else to my routine. I went to acupuncture to reduce stress and help me get pregnant, that would just drive me nuts. Having said that, I got pregnant 3/4 of my transfers (once with twins and once with triplets)!Chat Icon So I'd say whatever he did worked- and my doctors of course Chat Icon

Good luck

i did herbs for a short time but honestly 6-9 pills a day was just too much for me along with all the fertility meds. my RE did not have a problem with the herbs but i just didn't feel it was necessary and just did acu alone. i loved acu and i really credit it with helping me get and maintain the pregnancy with my daughter. good luck!

I took Yu Wan but I took it before I began stims. It helped clean out my system and prepared my body for the fertility meds.

I did acupuncture and took herbs but always stopped herbs once I started meds. Unfortunately I don't think they helped me much though. GL
