Least expensive time to do disney
3 y/o DS is "hounding" me to go to Mickey's Clubhouse We originally thought we would taken him when he was around five but am thinking perhaps October (as a birthday present). I do not know if I can save up that amount since I would now be fast tracking this vacation. Is this a good time to go? I assume since it is the beginning of the school year, it would be less expensive and less crowded? DH has never been to Disney and I only went once and so long ago that Epcot was only half built We would have to fly as there is no way I am driving down there! How much should I budget for? Middle of the road Disney hotel.

October is a good time to go & it gives you time to save. Depending how long you ae staying for, but I would budget about $2800 for a 5 night stay for a moderate hotel. All you need is $200 to deposit on the Disney website.

I think October is a good time to go. Plus you will be able to see it decorated for the fall PLUS attend Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party.
Crowd wise, STBXH and I did Martin Luther King Week in January and there were hardly any crowds. Which was great. We got to do things multiple times.
If is the three of you, I truly think you can get away with staying at a value resort. I've stayed at the All Star resorts and think it's just fine. Plus, chances are you probably won't be in the hotel most of the day anyways.
Try Southwest out of Islip. They should have decent airfare to Orlando.

I'm no expert but we just got back and I think low season (you can Google the chart) at a value resort during free dining would be a great deal.

I would stay at a value if you are on a budget. The kids LOVE the large icons, All Star Movies has a lot of Disney characters larger than life. Its fine, food courts are good, room a bit small, but if you are just sleeping there. Pools are fine, great for kids. Also, I know your son is ASD, so you can get a guest assistance card to help with the wait for the attractions, depending on his needs.

We went at the end of January and got a great deal!! I think we paid $2300 for direct airfare with JetBlue and we stayed in a Moderate resort for 5 nights. This price included a dining plan and Park Hoppers for my DH and I (DS is only 2 so we didn't have to pay for him).
Oh and trip insurance was included in the $2300, too!!

Re: Least expensive time to do disney
October is a great time to go. Fall Season is one of the cheaper seasons. We're about to take our third mid-October trip this year. I love that time because of the Halloween party and the Food and Wine festival.
The cheapest times are Jan and Feb excluding holidays and Mid AugustSeptember, but fall season isn't much more than that and I like the weather then better, plus of course the events.

This almost exactly (we were there at the same exact time) except we paid more like $2600 cause we upgraded to the Royal princess rooms or whatever they were called

Re: Least expensive time to do disney
we went in early december and everything was very cheap it was defin a very low point in the season. The place was not crowded and most rides had zero-15 minute waits at most.

Wow! Did you use a travel agent? Or, did you book everything on your own?

You will pay the same regardless if you book on your own or through an agent. Just so you are aware. That is provided that you do your research on the discounts. Mousesavers.com lists the discounts, and they are readily available on the WDW website.
