Going from BM/formula to whole milk (ESP BM)

Those of u whose ped said to do it gradually, how did u do it? We go to the ped sat & he will tell us then but I am just curious. I'm trying to plan out/looking forward to when I can stop pumping & looking to the future when I will wean DD.


I want DD to be mostly off my boob by a year.. I'd be ok with feeding her once a day, like before bedtime. Totally weaned by 14ish months total I think.

DD is 10 months & only takes about 3oz per bottle now (ever since eating more solids). Once a day while I'm at work; I usually pump 4-5 ounces during that time & use it for the next day's bottle/milk for morning cereal.

Also have 106oz frozen BM in my freezer.

Ds was ebf. We introduced him to milk right around 1 years old ( about 2 weeks ago). I just gave him his straw cup with cold milk and he loved it. My plan was to try it the way I did.. If that didnt work, then warming it. If that didnt work, then mixing it with BM.

Eta- he is still nurses 3 x a day. He was nursing 4 x a day 2 weeks ago. Next week, Im dropping another nursing session. By 16 months I think he will be completely weaned.

DS was on formula until 12 months, but I continued nursing twice a day until he was 14 months. We went to cow's milk cold turkey just after his frst birthday.

I'm in a similar boat. DD is 10 months and nurses 4x a day and once or twice at night. I'm not sure what I want to do yet in terms of weaning or dropping sessions, but the ped asked that I not give milk until at least 11 months. I'll probably offer one sippy of milk a day at that point and see how she does.
