Day Out with Thomas worth it?
I'm planning a trip to Lancaster with my DH, our 2 year old son and my parents. I want to stay at Eden in a penhouse suite with 2 separate bedrooms. The cost of the room is almost double for the week that Thomas the Train will be in town. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it.
Should we:
(A) Go the week before and stay in a suite for less money. We could do a train ride, but it won't be Thomas.
(B) Go the week of Thomas, do the Thomas ride but stay in either 2 separate rooms, or spend mega bucks (IMO) for the suite.
Anyone who's been on the Thomas Train, can you help me decided please? TIA!

Re: Day Out with Thomas worth it?
we have been to thomas, and DS LOVED It.
However we have been just to lancaster and there is so much to do. At 2yo I would forgo thomas wait another year for that and just enjoy lancaster. YOu can take the train ride, do the railroad museum, go to the choo choo barn (if he really likes trains).
There is also the cherry crest farms which DS loved. And we stopped at Crayola factory on the way to Eden and it was hte highlight of the trip!

He likes Thomas but its not his absolute favorite. Jake is number 1 in our house right now.
I forgot about Crayola. I definitely want to check that out.

Day Out with Thomas worth it?
we went when my DD was that age and I hated it! It was hot and crowded and the 15 minute train ride just didnt seem worth all the trouble.

my son liked Thomas but it was so crowded, I did not like it at all
I would go another weekend. also be careful which suite you get at eden - we had the 2 bedroom that you had to walk through one bedroom to get to the other. it was a terrible layout

I didn't think it was worth it when we went. The RR is open those weekends, and anyone can walk in and see Thomas. You could jump on one of their regular rides and tell your kids you are on Thomas, because once you get on the train you can't tell it's Thomas anyway.

We didn't think it was worth it either. It was so hot and the trip was so short. My son liked Thomas at the time, but he wasn't his favorite, so while he did like, it his favorite part of the trip was Dutch Wonderland.

Re: Day Out with Thomas worth it?
Thanks for all the replies. Turns out my folks are not going to join us so we are back to a regular room. And the prices are exactly the same for a Thomas week or the one before. We'll go during Thomas but I'm really excited to go to Dutch Wonderland and Eden itself.
Thanks again for all the advice.

Re: Day Out with Thomas worth it?
my boys were huge Thomas fans and loved every time we went. If you are not going on a weekday, we found it was best to get an early train time. We were usually out of there by 11:30-12:00 - when it starts getting unbearable.

Re: Day Out with Thomas worth it?
My DS loved it at 2.5 and we are going back again this year. It was exciting to see his face when he saw "big" Thomas. As an adult you live it through your child and enjoy their reaction/experience, I don't expect it to live up to adult expectations, kwim. We had a great time - just bought tickets for Thomas today and booked Eden last night.

I agree..the look on my DS face when Thomas pulled up along side him..was priceless. I am glad I had that experience...if you have never done it I recommend it at least once ESP if your lil guy is a Thomas fan!

Day Out with Thomas worth it?
My DD is a huge Thomas fan. She was so excited we could barely get her to look at the camera for a picture b/c she wanted to talk to Thomas. I don't remember it being overly crowded, but we went in September. We also saw Thomas at B&O RR in Baltimore. She loved it both times.
