Pergola anyone?
Anyone have a pergola? Did your taxes go up? Do you need a certificate of occupancy for it? Does the town need to know about installation? Does it increase your footprint? Do you have any climbing branches on it? I heard wisteria is nice. Any pics?
Thank you for your input!

Re: Pergola anyone?
we have a pergola. part of it is enclosed (part of our house now) and the other part is a small porchish type area right in front of our front door. It did increase the square footage of our home - both the indoor and outdoor portion. It was put in prior to us purchasing our home but it did need a CO, proper permits etc. We do not have anything growing on it. there are four columns though so I guess we could!

We have a pergola. It was here when we bought the house and is listed on the survey so I assume a permit/CO was needed. Ours is in the backyard and runs about 35 feet with a doorway in the middle. We have electrical running in ours as well for lighting. We have vines climbing and you can tell they have been here a while and wrll trained. I was told they are grape vines. I've never seen it grown in an probably won't. The perils was hit by a tree during Sandy and will probably be coming down. But we will leave the deck portion.
