Sheraton Vistana Villages
We are considering staying here for our disney trip this spring instead of on property. But DH was just concerned with the distance to WDW.
We will have a car while there. Does anyone know approx, how long it takes to get to the parks from this hotel?
Thanks!

It takes between 10 and 20 minutes depending on which park you are going to.
We stayed there in September (we own a timeshare there) and it was great. DS loved the Pirate Ship pool.

I actually just booked my friends to this resort through an extra vacation with my timeshare. Another friend has stayed there and said it was great. DH and I will probably be staying there in June too. It's closer to the airport, Universal and SeaWorld and about 10-20 from the Disney parks.

It's actually about equidistant from Universal, Disney and the airport but, it's really close to Seaworld.

Re: Sheraton Vistana Villages
Thanks ladies. We usually stay on property, but we are going for 4 nights b4 going on a cruise, and now that this is our first trip to Disney with my younger DS, we are thinking more space and a kitchen might be helpful. Also the ability to do laundry before leaving for the cruise would be good.
If you stayed there did you like it, would you recommend it?
Also did anyone go to sea world...I am deciding between animal kingdom and sea world for my boys who will be 5 and 2 at trip time. Ds1 has been to wdw, AK included 2x but this is the little ones first trip there.

I've stayed there a couple of times and love it. We stayed in the St Augustine phase each time - it's really close to the pool with the Pirate ship.
There is a Publix really close to get groceries and such.
The units are nice and spacious and it's great to be able to do laundry.
I didn't do Seaworld - we spent each morning at Disney and then came back for nap and did the pool in the afternoon.

I've done both Seaworld and Animal Kingdom and had a great time at both. Just based on the location, I would definitely say to do Seaworld- it's practically across the street.

Re: Sheraton Vistana Villages
We stayed at Sheraton Vistana Villages and I didn't like it. There was no housekeeping and resort amenities were really limited. There was no room service. It was nice to have a kitchen with dishwasher and a washer/dryer in the unit.
It was about 20min to the parks. We left about 1 hour before park opening so we would have enough time to park. We came back to the hotel to rest (we had 2 young children) and never went back to the parks because it was far. It was inconvenient to eat because we always had to drive.
I like staying on site much better because of the convenience. We would go back to the park daily and sometimes even went to 3 parks because we may want to stop by epcot just to eat.

It's a timeshare resort, not a hotel. They don't offer daily housekeeping, but you can arrange for a cleaning mid-week if you really wanted, but for a charge. There is no room service, but there are plenty of local places that offer delivery. I guess it really comes down to what your expectations/pans for each day are.

Thanks everyone for your input.
I am not worried about housekeeping, we are going to be there 3 days basically, before heading out on a cruise, so making the beds is not an issue to me. Also I think the last time I ordered room service was on my honeymoon 9 years ago! And because we are doing disney I am planning on our dinners there anyway. The kitchen would be great because I have one boy who is a mover and shaker from the moment he gets up, and my other needs time. So being able to let the little one run around while eating a waffle (that 40% of the time he refuses to eat anyway) instead of having him strapped into a highchair is great. And at the same time this would afford my older DS his time to wake up and eat instead of having to be rushed to make reservations or something.
And having the extra room is good because DS2 needs to nap otherwise he is a monster. so it would be nice to have the extra space so he can nap in one room and I could be in the other room not worried about waking him!
The only amenity I am really interested in at any hotel is comfy rooms and a nice pool for the kids.
And I love the idea of the washer/dryer because it would limit the # of clothes I have to bring for the disney vacation and then the cruise! I can just do a load or 2 before heading to the boat!
We will see. Thanks everyone!!!
