Moms who changed LO's diet
First off what diet did you change to? Examples of what you give them? Also, did it make a big difference in their mood?
DS is 19 months old and a screamer. He's a happy boy, but the moment he doesn't get what he wants he will scream and whine. Now I know this is totally normal behavior for a toddler. He was an incredibly good and happy baby. Always smiling and easy. He walked late and the moment he started walking he became a terror. Tantrums and screams out of the blue from morning till night. He's an awesome sleeper for naps and nighttime. He is so happy when he wakes up and plays, smiles, etc. He walks off the moment he is free, touches everything, and screams when you take something away from him, pick him up or just can't reach something he wants. Again, I think it's the age mixed with his personality. Even when I was prego with him he didn't stop moving. DS 1 is much different. Quieter and a bit more easy going... With some things. Just figured I'd see about changing his diet to see if these mood swings would become easier. Again, I know it's just him, but omg... The high screaming and nonstop. I think he's the only one in library class who can't sit still. Lol

My DS is 14 months and the same. I don't think it's abnormal. I think it's them exploring and asserting I independence.

I agree. My DS is like this too and pretty much has been since he could move independently (he is just about 1). I have no advice when it comes to changing diets but I would definitely be curious to hear how it works out for you. Best of luck!

Re: Moms who changed LO's diet
The theory that food can greatly affect behavior is not a mainstream one. In fact, your pediatrician may even say that they haven't heard of diet affecting children's behavior. However, this is a really big theory in the alternative medicine world.
Of course, tantrums and bad behavior is a normal part of toddlerhood. However, when it becomes so frequent and intense in nature, usually that's a sign that something is amiss.
Since your dc is still young, it may be hard to implement an elimination diet. However, there are a few things that you can do now. I would start monitoring when he has his tantrums, then look back and see what he ate in the previous 24 hours. You may be able to make a connection between trigger foods and his behavior after a few weeks. The biggest trigger foods are dairy, gluten, corn, soy, artificial colors, artificial flavors and preservatives.
I would go ahead an eliminate all artificial colors and flavors and see if that makes any difference.
If it's really bothering you, you could try an elimination diet for one month to see if it helps. It does take at least 2 weeks for everything to get out of his system.
Here's a book if you are really interested in the topic.

Oh and I eliminated gluten, corn and artificial colors from my daughters diet. She's a different, happier child!
