Thanks!!!
Again, it's like I definitely DON'T need the green light to go ahead and eat it lol but I remember him specifically saying it and the only reason I recall it is because we had JUST come back from vacation when I found out I was pregnant - and on vacation we ate at the breakfast buffet each morning and, of course, they have bacon so I would eat that with eggs. When he mentioned it, I was like OMG I ate it on vacation. I was just worried but he said I was SO early on then, I didn't even miss my period yet, so he said it was fine but not to eat it again going forward.
Let me google this and I'll update lol now I want to know!
Please do! I've never heard this either (on my 3rd) and I've been eating bacon a few times a week! I'm not usually a bacon person- but this baby loves it!

OK, I found two articles - and it's like everything else they tell you "yes you can" or "no you shouldn't" - it is all a matter of opinion and moderation. My doctor just happens to have the opinion of don't eat that. I guess when in doubt, he figured he'd tell me to avoid it. He is probably just concerned I'm going to gain too much LOL
ETA - this is the part he referenced, he used this word I can't even pronounce: Listeriosis... One of the chief concerns surrounding eating bacon while pregnant is the increased risk for ingesting the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes, which can be found in uncooked bacon. These bacteria are naturally present in animals, plants, soil and ground water. Pregnant women are significantly more likely to experience listeriosis, the infection that stems from ingesting foods that contain Listeria monocytogenes. This infection can be very harmful because it is connected with increased risk for stillbirth, miscarriage and infection.
Oh and then he told me no to hummus - I wanted to DIE. I freaking love hummus.

Crave of the Day
Bacon, deli meats, hot dogs and such have nitrates. If you shouldn't be eating it yourself then either should a growing baby. Theory by a doctor I see and it's the easiest way to make decisions.

Same stupid listeria reason So sad, I really love it.
"Possible Dangers Listeriosis, a foodborne illness, is the main point of concern regarding the safety of hummus during pregnancy. Although the Listeria monocytogenes bacteria is harmless to most healthy adults, it can cause serious illness in older adults, pregnant women, newborns and anyone with a weakened immune system. If a pregnant woman consumes food contaminated with the Listeria bacteria, she might only experience mild flu-like symptoms. However, the infection could easily result in miscarriage, premature delivery, stillbirth or a serious infection in the newborn. If you do choose to eat hummus during pregnancy, store it in the fridge and eat within two days of making or opening it."
