Cost of hypospadias surgery

My 6 month old DS will be having hypospadias and chordee repair surgery in a month. As you can imagine I am a nervous wreck about it. My DH is also trying to figure out how much this is going to cost and how much insurance will cover. I’m not trying to pry into people’s finances but would anyone know and feel comfortable telling me what the billed amount and contracted amount (these are different than the out-of-pocket cost) was for the surgery for the (1) surgeon, (2) assistant surgeon, (3) hospital, (4) anesthesiologist and (5) other? Also, were there any charges that weren’t covered by insurance? I know that our final cost will be dependent on our insurance but I just to give my DH a ballpark figure.

I would call your insurance company and also the urologist that is performing the surgury. IF they are in network then the insurance compnay should be able to give you a total cost.

My DS had surgury (different one) but we were able to get a complete OOP cost from our insurance company. I ended up paying about 700 OOP but that was also because we had a 400 deductible that had not been met.


GL!!! I know its nreve wrackign for the little ones to go through surgery but they are actually little troopers and its AMAZING how they heal.

My son had this surgery and I don't remember the specific costs but I think we just had a copay. It was outpatient surgery and the dr. was in network.

It is scary but over quickly - worse on us then them.
