Anyone ever do a race at Disney?

I really really really want to do a 1/2 marathon at Disney (if I can convince the hubby). BUT wondered the best way to plan a trip around it because I don't want to be exhausted. So I'm thinking arriving the day prior & relaxing.

Is it really an expensive time to stay too?

Dh did a 5k there. We arrived two days prior, took it easy the night before and then stayed 2 more days. The races start very early.

I've done the marathon there twice. We went down three days before. Our main reason is that the marathon is in Jan and if it snowed we wanted to make sure we had a cushion in our travel plans. We then stayed two days after the marathon too.

We took it easy in the days before, just doing mornings at the parks and relaxing at the resort in the afternoon/evenings.

Since the marathon is in Jan, it was not expensive at all. In fact, one year we got a fabulous deal at the Polynesian for only like $150 a night. Prices will depend on which race you are looking at, but I don't believe they increase prices just for a race.
