Re: Gestational Diabetes Meal Advice
I had GD with both of my pregnancies. The best thing you can is read every single label of items you buy. The lower in carbs and the higher in fiber the better for your blood sugar. Fairway is a great place to find low carb ideas. I ate a lot of peanut butter and low carb wraps with some turkey sausage in the morning. With the peanut butter make sure to check the carbs. Some are higher than others. I drank a lot of water and crystal light since its sugar free. Say away from fruit in the morning. It always raised my sugars. No juice too. I was allowed a total of 60 carbs for each man meal and 30 for each snack. Lunch I would have deli on a low carb wrap with a side salad. No fat free dressings. They are loaded with sugar. Dinner would be a protein like chicken, fist size with veggies and a small sweet potato. Desserts I had berries and low fat cool whip or trader joes sells peanut butter pretzels nuggets I did we'll with. If you have any questions, fm me.
