Aruba Mariott Hotel vs Mariott ocean or surf Club?
What is the difference in terms of experience? Which one is better for the kids? Can you book the clubs via Mariott or do you have to go through the owners on a timeshare rental website? Thanks

They are all nice but the Ocean and Surf Clubs are villas as opposed to regular hotel rooms. I feel that set up is better for kids. The surf club also has a lazy river.
You can book directly through Marriott but you might get a better deal booking though a timeshare rental website.
We stayed at the Ocean Club a few years ago and loved it.

Full (huge) kitchen is definitely nicer with kids that is in the villas and not in the hotel. The surf has the lazy river and water slide... Which cant be used by hotel guests! You can't go wrong with either...but I feel the villas are a better choice ESP with families!
We are going in a month and staying at the surf! I cannot wait!

Great to know these details! Thanks. Any good rental websites that I could use to compare rates?

100% got on redweek.com !!!
My family is actually at the Ocean Club right now! I'm only home because I needed to save the time off from work for my Honeymoon in April!
My parents own at the Ocean Club but since rentals are eaier to find my Fiance and I rent at the Surf Club.
The Surf Club is more "kid friendly". The lazy river and the slide are fun but you need to have a bracelete to go in. If you have kids that would appreciate the slide, etc then I'd stay there.
The only thing I have against the Surf Club is that it's SOOO large, so lots of walking. The Ocean Club is between the Hotel and Surf Club and that means it's closer to the Casino and the Ice Cream shop, if you want a late snack!
You are known by where you are staying by your towels, meaning you are designated to sit on your resorts beach. The Surf Club could be very crowded so that's a down side.
When you decide what you want to do or if you have any questions FM me. I've been there 12 times over the past 19 years.

Thanks for your replies. Have you rented at the Surf Club for less than a week? We will probably go only for 5 nights. I haven't yet contacted owners through redweek-I am just trying to find out if its an absolute no go or can I negotiate with owners?

I have always gone for the week, but sometimes you can find a 5 night rental. Most likely though it'll be for the week because that's home Marriott sells them. If you do get less nights it may mean that someone was using it before you (in the same week) so make sure they pick up the room service charge for cleanup, unlike a hotel room your room doesn't get cleaned everyday unless you pay for it, once a week (on about your 3rd or 4th day) is included.
When are you looking to travel? I'll look on the site for you, I have a login.

Thanks for offering to check for me. I have contacted the owners through Redweek. I am hoping that since it is not peak spring break season(late apr) some owners might be willing to negotiate.

Re: Aruba Mariott Hotel vs Mariott ocean or surf Club?
I just spent hours looking on redweek and we are limited to when we can go. The rentals are really reasonable but, the airfare is high. The cheapest I could find was $500 a person in July. I also noticed that the number of days are either 7 or 14
