bathroom vanity placement
We will be renovating our main upstairs bathroom in the next couple of months, so I am just starting to think about what I want to do with it. What I know for sure is that we have a 48" vanity that will go into a 60" space (don't ask ). So far, we have talked about placing the vanity off center, leaving 12" on one side and building shelves into that space (so that they look like part of the vanity, with the countertop going across the entire 60" space). I'm a bit worried that having the sink not centered in the space will look funny. Another option is to just put 6" spacers on each side of the vanity, so that the sink remains centered. I would love to have the shelves, but do you think it will look weird? Would it be better to just pust the spacers in? Any other ideas?

Just my opinion, but I would center the sink. Maybe do floating shelves behind the toilet for shelving? We have a large vanity in a small bathroom with about 7 inches on each side, with no countertop or any shelving in that space. On one side we have a wire basket with towels in it. On the other side, which is in front of the toilet, we have the garbage can and behind it a basket to store the extra rolls of toilet paper.

How about an enclosed tower/cabinet instead of shelves? Instead of having the vanity top go all the way across, have a tall tower on one side. Or have the cabinet sit on top of the countertop on one side, with a door and shelves inside.
