Updated: Ridiculous question - dry skin on face
Update below, thank you!
___________________
All of a sudden my face is extremely dry, like peeling dry. My makeup is not going on correctly. Is there anything I can do to fix this... by tomorrow? I have a black tie event to attend and I'd really like to not feel self-conscious about my face/makeup issue. I am also breaking out, which makes matters worse. IDK what's going on but.... any suggestions? I feel like coating my face in aquaphor after reading the dry hands thread!
TIA

Ridiculous question - dry skin on face
I am not sure of a quick remedy but if you have time tomorrow before the event, go to a make-up counter at the mall and have them do your make-up for the event. They will do it for free and it always helps to buy one of the products that they use.

Re: Ridiculous question - dry skin on face
The skin on my face is so dry in the winter too...I also do the apricot scrub (St. Ives)- also without scrubbing too hard - and then use the Trader Joe's Enrich face lotion every day.
Since you need a quick fix by tomorrow, maybe try the scrub tonight followed by face lotion and see how it goes? If it helps, great, if not, then go to the makeup counter tomorrow to have it done?
Sorry Bear! I know the feeling.

Re: Ridiculous question - dry skin on face
I had horrible dry, flaky skin the other day under my nose. I exfoliated in the shower and then put vaseline on it over night. Been using lotion since then and its all better now.

Re: Ridiculous question - dry skin on face
I have dry skin in the winter too, stinks! I dont know if this will work overnight but like some of the other ladies suggested, I would do a mild scrub tonight to remove an excess skin and then use a thicker night cream to smooth it out overnight and then maybe reapply a thick cream in the morning. Good luck!

Re: Ridiculous question - dry skin on face
Before you go to sleep tonight use a GENTLE exfoliator and a good moisturizer.
For the areas that are extremely dry and flaking, Aquaphor is a miracle worker .

Re: Ridiculous question - dry skin on face
I exfoliate and put moisturizer on daily which prevents the flaking. Over washing your face can be the culprit as well. But definitely moisturize and exfoliate once a week and you should be good!

Welcome to my hell!
Buy a shower glove, put some of your norma facial cleanser on and rub, rub, rub, gently. Then use Freeman's Pineapple Facial Enzyme Mask or Queen Helen Peel Off Mask. then moisturize!

Just wanted to say thanks everyone - your collective advice worked! I will be incorporating some exfoliation into my routine every couple of days.

Re: Updated: Ridiculous question - dry skin on face
I used to battle dry skin on my fave EVERY Winter and would sometimes HAVE to resort to lathering on Aquaphor.
What I found works great though, is using an olive oil soap. I decided to try an olive oil bar soap from Kiss My Face and ever since then, my skin has not needed moisturizer like that and I've gone this whole Winter without any of the dry skin on my face.
