Curly hair girls HELP
I am so sick of blow drying my hair straight...it just doesnt fit in my schedule anymore either. If i do my hair curly i use mouse and dry it with a diffuser. And i just dont know many ways to style it with out it looking so 80s. Can you post your curly hair regimine and how you style it. I would love some ideas.

Re: Curly hair girls HELP
I think that the bigger my hair is on top, the more "80s" it looks.
What I do now, and I like it well enough, is to finger-comb with a lightweight gel (love DevaCurl) and put in a little part so it's not so poufy on top, and then blow-dry with a diffuser. If I don't blow-dry it, it gets wayyyy too flat on top.
I'll try to post a pic so you can see what my hair looks like.

Re: Curly hair girls HELP
Why do you think it looks "80s" ?
I think that when the top is too short you get that 80's look -
Mine is very long, like the Noxema girl in the late 90's - before she married the hot Grey's Anatomy Dr. and had the money to pay someone to straighten her hair every day
I use a good shampoo/conditioner, then a leave in and either gel or mousse -
I find my hair overall is bigger w/ mousse, but I don't like flat curly hair I think it needs some volume at least on me

Curly hair girls HELP
I get it relaxed so it is a looser curl and also use liquid gel so it is tame and not too huge

Re: Curly hair girls HELP
i have so much hair....and i can't take blowing it out more than once a month. i wash my hair at night, add gel and put it in a bun or french braid while i sleep. in the morning, i'll undo/finger comb with a bit more gel and hairspray to finish (speaking of 80's, i still use and love aussie products). i think us 'curly' girls always feel poofy when it's actually not that bad!

Before kids, I had the same exact hair. A good haircut goes a long way along with the right product. I have fine hair but a lot of it and Paul Mitchell used to make a gel with a little green apple on the bottle and that gel was the best. No matter how much I used it never got crunchy. I also never used moose. My curl is slowly coming back and I really like Spin Curl creme from Redken but I don't think it would have worked on my hair previously.
Also, never brush your hair. I used to use a wide tooth comb in the shower and that was it. Even now if I want to do my hair curly, I wash it, put a towel and just add product to however my hair falls. I only need to adjust a few pieces. The less I touch it the better it looks.

Re: Curly hair girls HELP
I wash and condition with deva curl no poo and conditioner. Then I comb in the shower. After I get out of the shower, I flip my hair over wet and then crunch up with Deva curl gel. I don't touch it and let it air dry and then when it is dry I flip it over again and kinda shake it out gently. I used to HATE my curls, but since I have been doing this, I embrace it LOL!

Re: Curly hair girls HELP
First of all, I only wash my hair every 3-4 days, but condition it every day in the shower. I use real shampoo, none of those poo things - they make me feel dirty.
I always use leave-in conditioner and TresEmme Mousse for curly hair. I apply it liberally and then brush it into my hair with lose comb. I never use hairdryer, always let it try naturally. Once it dries, I put my hair in a bun to flatten it a bit. Then I let it out.
Here is a picture that shows my hair pretty well.
I am sorry, I can't make the picture any smaller...

Re: Curly hair girls HELP
My hair is kind of like this -
I use Moroccan curl cream and sometimes a pump or 2 of either Sally Hershberger primer or root volumizer.

Re: Curly hair girls HELP
I never defuse it. It makes it too "big".
I use a moisturizing and de-frizzing shampoo & conditioner (usually frizz-ease)
Comb conditioner thruough in shower.
Then use a hair cream (V05 Hair Dressing works best for me) and Tresemme Mouse humidity control one. I don't like anything that makes my hair crunchy. I like it soft.
Put the products through my hair, scrunch it a bit and let air dry. I DO NOT touch my hair LOL If I touch it, it frizzes. The less you do, the better it looks.
With straightening it. I wash it the night before, dry it a little and let it air dry the rest. Then in the morning I use the flat iron to straighten it. It takes all of 20 minutes to straighten that way.
