Question about speech pronounciation (2 yr old)

DS is turning two soon and he's got so many words now, over 70 at least. I was wondering when the pronounciation of some of the words becomes a concern. He says a lot of the words pretty clearly, but some not so much. For example: he says "mote" for remote; "no" for milk (he says the word no also); "boon" for balloon; "mehmee" for Mickey; "daw" for dog (he leaves the g of) He will leave the end sound off words pretty often.

There's more, but you get the idea. He can say words that seem harder so clearly like cracker, airplane and lawnmower

I think it's fine. DD is the same way. Said full on "kitty cat" but couldn't say "dog" for the longest time. I think they are just absorbing and processing so much they can't perfect it all right away. I have also found when she first learns a word she says it correctly and then later on it gets a little muddled. Like she calls my Mom Gma but lately has been saying G-ta-ma, LOL. Like your LO she has an extensive vocabulary so I am not worried.

i'm a speech therapist... and for a not quite 2 year old, that sounds fine!! i think the important thing is that they're at least attemping to say some words.
I think what you can do is repeat the words after him, and emphasize the right way to say it, just so he hears it. So like when he says "mote", you say "yup! REMOTE", and just kind of emphasize it so he can hear the right way. No need to make him try to repeat it after you or anything right now. When you emphasize the right way to say it, he'll pick it up eventually

My ds will be 2 1/2 in april and he has well over a hundred words but he definietly has trouble with pronounciation. He says "mote" for remote as well. "Hoggie" for doggie lol. He says most of his words perfectly but he definintely has trouble with some words.

DD was the same way and now at just over 2.5 she is FINALLY starting to pronounce things better.
It happened practically overnight too.
And she still has trouble with some words. For example, Yellow.
That's a tough one for her still
But it did improve greatly from where she was at your son's age so I don't think you need to worry just yet.

My DS will be 2 next month and he is the same way. He talks in full long sentences but some words are shortened while he says harder worlds like airplane correctly. My girls were the same way at this age so it's normal to me
