Dr. Kofinas-questions
For those of you who see or have seen Dr. Kofinas (MFM), could you please answer a few questions for me?
What does he do for your first appointment? Is it just a consult, does he do ultrasound, make recommendations? Did it take long to get an appointment with him?
I understand he doesn't deliver, but does he attend the birth, or at that point is all your OB?
How does the insurance situation work with him? I know he only takes out of network benefits. I do have that. Does that mean I pay out of pocket until I reach my deductible, then he takes what my insurance pays? Are there separate fees for ultrasounds, labwork, or other tests?

at my first appt they did an u/s and then we sat and talked to him for a bit. there are techs that do the u/s and then he comes in to look over the scans (and sometimes will scan you again). i got an appointment right away. i think if you tell them what's going on with you they will try to fit you in as soon as possible.
i never asked him about the birth but i'm assuming just my OB will be there.
we have to pay our deductible and he bills our insurance for out of network benefits. no extra fees so far.
good luck! he's the BEST so it's worth seeing him if you can :)

Wanted to add that I had the same experience as PP with the first visit and insurance coverage.
His office staff is wonderful--I love them all!!
He is not there for the birth but will always be in contact with your OB the entire pregnancy.

My experience is similar to the PPs.
I just had to pay my co-pay at each visit; everything else was covered.
He doesn't deliver, but told my ob when to deliver me (I had an issue) He called the shots throughout my pregnancy and I'm very thankful for that.
LOVE him and his staff.

Dr. Kofinas-questions
I love Dr. Kofinas. One of the techs is a little rough with the internal. The nurses are awesome.
He will only see you if you are using one of a small list of obs that he works with.
