If you use a monitor to watch your kids past the toddler age, when is it invasive?

I never want video access into rooms. Am i the only one who gives the "it is fine as long as you are in a private place speech?"that is where he is suppose to go to do things i do not want to see.

I think I am the only person that never owned a video monitor. Never saw the need. I can get up and walk into the bedroom to check in.

We stopped using ours after we moved DC to their big kid beds. We watched them for a while during the transition to see how they were doing, but other than that, we got rid of it just bc we weren't really checking it anymore.

Now for the littlest one, still in a crib, we still have it. Only time will tell if I feel comfortable removing it at the same time as the older DC or if I feel the youngest will need it until they are 18, LOL. I am not opposed to it depending on their personality when they are older.

I would never consider it once my child was of an age to understand how to get out of bed on their own and I was no longer worried about the safety aspect of being alone in their room. What would be the point?
