NYC doe child care leave
I'm a speech pathologist for the doe and I'm thinking about taking a year for child care. Does anyone know if I'm allowed to work part time ( at night after school hours) or is there a rule that I can't

I am currently on a childcare leave. I have heard that we are not supposed to work part time. But I was never told either way nor have I seen it in writing when reading about a childcare leave.

If its the same for teachers, I believe you can work part time f status in the doe but i dont think you are allowed to work outside of that

You may work 2x week or 3x week in the DOE. Not outside DOE.

O Status? Is this like F Status? I thought most schools don't do that anymore. How can you go on O Status?
I have heard mixed thing. The UFT maternity meeting I went too said NO WORKING at all or you will get terminated and lose your pension, so I haven't done any part time work. I would help out at my school a few times. That was fine.
Then I heard you could work up to 20 hours a week, but nothing educational. I really don't know. They all say something different!

Never heard of o status either. This other person said 20 hours a week too. But the question for me then becomes well what does something educational mean lol. Soooooo annoying! You think when the threat is you lose your pension they would have their answers straight!

The way I see it is if it such a strict rule it should be stated somewhere and someone should tell you!! If they find out someone is working how can they be terminated when they were never told not to. I would like to do EI while on childcare leave. The DOE drives me nuts with giving clear answers!!
